The Marked Men @ Saint Vitus 2/7/2014

Denton, TX punks The Marked Men just wrapped up a busy weekend in NYC, playing three sold-out shows in two days. As the band haven't released a new album since 2009 and have only ever played NYC a handful of times, there were some people who hit all three shows. I hit the Friday night (2/7) show and these Texans' ability to burn white-hot can make a full convert out of a casual fan like myself. The band, who spent the afternoon rehearsing at Vitus, packed in a lot of songs into their tight 45-minute, no-encore set, and it was a sing-a-long pretty much the entire time. Openers Tenement (fist-pumping, pedal-to-the-metal rock) who played the Don Giovanni showcase a day earlier and Future Punx (Oingo Boingo style new wave) were great too.

If you missed The Marked Men's shows, unARTig was there, video camera in hand and has full sets from Friday's show, plus Saturday's (2/8) matinee and night show.. You can watch those, and check out setlists for all three shows, below.

Future Punx have a couple NYC shows coming up: February 22 at Glasslands with Christines and Yvette (tix); and opening for La Femme at Glasslands on March 23.

Videos and setlists of all three The Marked Men shows below...

Amazing the hyperbole people will use to describe an average garage-punk band. Nobody cared this much during their initial run.

If I remember correctly the "?" at the end of the setlist on the late show Saturday was "4000 Times"

Calm down, 4:50. It's three nights at a 350 person capacity venue in Brooklyn. They're not Green Day.

I drank the urine of five men at this show. Astounding amount of dom/bears/scat enthusiests in their fan base.

Serious question: why do people get so butt hurt when a band comes to town for the first time in years that people are actually excited to see? Why do you even care?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2014 11:17 AM

these guys look weird lol

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2014 3:35 PM

Serious question: Why do you get so bent out of shape when you think some band is great, and someone else thinks they sound like warm milk on a hot day?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2014 3:58 PM

is 11:17 implying that no one in this vast city of 8 million people has been excited to see a band in __ years until these Marked Men shows? what an exciting life you must lead.

Shitty Limits were better

***FACT***

Marked Men are popular because they are so fucking generic and middle of the road—catering to the lowest common denominator of dads and hipsters who are nostalgic for "punk rock" like they read about on the internet.

Posted by ***READ*** | February 11, 2014 4:29 PM

The fact that 4:29's comment didn't give me that momentary stomach gargle that comes with being 'had' renders the argument invalid. ACAB

The Marked Men are headlining night 1 of Atlanta Mess-Around for those in internet land who missed them in Brooklyn.

The Spits headline night 2
