Standells

LA garage rock legends The Standells may be best known for their hit "Dirty Water" from the 1966 album of the same name, but they've got other great material too, like their other single from the same album, "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White" (later covered by Minor Threat) and its psychedelic opener, "Medication" (The Chocolate Watchband, who shared songwriter/producer Ed Cobb with The Standells, had a version of that one too). In 2013, they returned (without Dick Dodd [RIP]) with Bump, their first album of new material in 46 years. You can listen to that album on RDIO, hear a clip of one of its tracks and watch a recent live video of another track, below.

The Standells have also announced an east coast tour for this spring, which brings them to NYC for two shows at Lucille's in BB King's on April 30 (7:30 PM and 10 PM). Tickets for both of those shows are on sale now.

All dates are listed, along with those recent streams and a few classic ones too, below...

And Dick Dodd (their lead singer/drummer) passed away in late 2013 so it's really, "The Standells".

Yeah, no reason to see this. And this is from someone who has see the reunited Sonics multiple times.

Actually, the membership of the Standells has been pretty consistent. Dick hadn't performed regularly with the group since the 1990's because of poor health. FYI: The Standells had two lead singers; the other being founding member keyboardist Larry Tamblyn who is still actively performing with the group today. Larry did most of lead singing on the Standells first album "The Standells in person at P.J.s", in the above-mentioned "Bing Crosby Show", the Munsters, and many of the later album cuts and flip sides. The group (without Dodd) has been receiving rave reviews for their concerts https://www.facebook.com/notes/standells/standells-press-reviews/10152164307172534 and their new album "Bump" https://www.facebook.com/notes/standells/reviews-of-new-album-bump/10152164521687534.
