Peggy Sue @ Webster Hall, April 2012 (more by )
Peggy Sue

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...

Lee Ranaldo and the Dust dropped off tonight's Union Pool show, but Steve Gunn, Garrett Devoe and Mike Wexler are still playing. Depending on what Mother Nature has in store for us, we may see more cancellations. We'll do our best to keep you updated.

Peggy Sue, The Mariner's Children (solo), The Private Eyes @ Glasslands
UK trio Peggy Sue make music that has a spooky/sorrowful/beautiful sound that isn't quite folk and isn't quite rock. Their new album, Choir of Echos, is terrific and they're worth trudging through the slush for.

Kele Okereke (of Bloc Party) DJ set, JDH @ Cameo Gallery
Bloc Party is taking a short break at the moment, but frontman Kele Okereke is staying very active, having released solo material, collaborated with other artists, and now he's over in the US, where he'll DJ at Cameo tonight.

KLANGKARUSSELL (DJ), Thomas Azier (live), Stefan Biniak (DJ), Little Dragon (DJ) @ Irving Plaza
It's the first installment of the Painted BLACK series at Irving Plaza tonight with this electronic-oriented lineup, which is mostly DJ sets, including one from Little Dragon.

(Crosses) †††, The Color Film, Yung Gutted, Ultra Grrrl (DJ) @ MHOW
Crosses is a side project featuring Chino Moreno of Deftones and Shaun Lopez of Far which gives them a chance to make synthier, gothier music than their other projects. Similarly, Color Film gives Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo a chance to do the same thing.

Nicole Atkins, Arc Iris, Domino Kirke @ Bowery Ballroom
Nicole Atkins makes pretty agreeable, polished folk-tinged rock on her new album, Slow Phaser, which you'll get a chance to hear live at Bowery Ballroom tonight.

The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Youthquake @ Bowery Electric
Dinner at a fancypants restaurant and flowers too "normal" a valentine for you? The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black are throwing a "Valentine's Day Spectacular" that is sure to be in your face.

Valentine's Day Eve Ladies Of Soul Tribute with XAVIER and Friends @ Joe's Pub
If an in-your-face Valentine's Day is not what you're looking for, here's another offbeat option. Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt is involved so chances are it won't be too treacly.

Timber Timbre, Lowell @ Mercury Lounge
Timber Timbre make great (if a bit underrated) noir folk ballads, and from the sound of their new single, "Hot Dreams," the new record may work in some '80s-style romance too.

Fort Lean, Tropic of Pisces, Sacco, American Royalty, Genghis Hans @ Baby's All Right
Fort Lean had to cancel their appearance, so Baby's All Right has combined the early and late shows there into one slushy party. Doors at 9:30 PM.

People are such pussies about snow these days. It's about a foot of snow people, over about 12 hours for fuck's sake. This is child's play about 1 hour north of here. People need to stop bitching about the snow and get the fuck on with life already, Damn!

For any Glassjaw fans, in addition to Daryl Palumbo, the band for Color Film included Manny Carrero and Durijah Lang on stage last night. it was basically Glassjaw.
