Young Widows

As for the material on the album itself: it's exciting. Young Widows took a turn towards minimalism on their last album, In and Out of Youth and Lightness, but their finest moments come when they build up into a mesmerizing pummel. Easy Pain plays to this strength, regularly thrumming along to the thump of Jeremy McMonigle's big toms.
We wrote the above when Louisville noise rockers Young Widows played their new album, Easy Pain, in full at Saint Vitus back in January. It's due out on May 13 via Temporary Residence, and they band has now given us a taste of the studio version with the LP's first single, "Kerosene Girl," which you can stream below...

Young Widows - "Kerosene Girl"

Easy Pain Tracklist:
01 "Godman"
02 "Cool Night"
03 "Kerosene Girl"
04 "Doomed Moon"
05 "Gift Of Failure"
06 "Bird Feeder"
07 "King Sol"
08 "The Last Young Widow"

i don't know why, but i own two of their albums (on vinyl!). i guess i was duped into this boring material by their shirttail hardcore connection and reasonably-priced releases courtesy of their fantastic record label. However, thinking this through now, i will make my next stop the used record shop and receive the $2.99/LP i'm sure to receive for these albums. Thanks, BV!
