Torres (aka Mackenzie Scott) released her great self-titled debut LP back in early 2013. She's been touring hard in support of it ever since, including an appearance in Austin for SXSW 2013. Mackenzie is back for another round with SXSW (her full list of dates is below), during which she'll play the Thursday BrooklynVegan free day party. Meanwhile, we asked her 5 QUESTIONS:

1) What is your favorite venue to play in the country and why?

Torres: Red Rocks Amphitheater! (I spoke with my future self and she told me to say that.)

2) What would your metal band name be?

Severed Corn on the Macabre.

more below...

3) Tell us about the worst show you've ever played.

A few months ago in Munich, my band and I went to Dachau on a show day. In retrospect, I should've known better than to visit a concentration camp mere hours before show was a total downer and I was so zapped of energy that I ended up playing a terrible set that night. The crowd was great though!

4) What are some albums that you guys have been spinning in the van lately?

The new Diarrhea Planet album is a favorite. My drummer Chris got me into the Flat Duo Jets, so that's been fun. Tons of Nirvana. Chvrches, most definitely.

5) What are you up to for the rest of the year post-SXSW?

Writing and recording a new album! ( And touring some, hopefully).

5 questions? At what point did Brooklynvegan turn into the Daily Show with Craig Kilborn?

OK, what the fuck with the 5 questions to random no name bands? Stop already. Just stop.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 4:28 PM

Kilborn was funny. This is just tedious.

I for one am really appreciating this style of journalism (which is something that has not existed long on this blog) and I look forward to the ones that will be coming up in this blog in terms of journalism because we all learn a lot from the answer to these questions which are being asked.

Can't you just compile all of these 5 question things in one post?

7) so you like the spinz doctorz?

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 10:11 PM

If you came to this site expecting "journalism" you came to the wrong fucking place.

But yeah, these five question posts are tedious because the questions really suck. Even for BV. No one cares what your "metal name" would be. You might as well ask what their porn alias would be.

Terrible questions. David Fricke must be rolling is his grave.
