Little Dragon

Little Dragon's next album, entitled Nabuma Rubberband, is due in May. This coming week, like they did recently on Letterman (video below), they'll preview some of it down in Austin at SXSW where one of their shows is the Thursday BrooklynVegan free day party. Meanwhile, we cornered bassist Freddy & drummer Erik & asked them 5 QUESTIONS:

--

1) What is your favorite venue to play in the country and why?

LD: Our favorite venue to play could be the Henry Miller library in Big Sur. Open small outdoor stage surrounded by the giant redwoods trees, what more to say??

more to say below...

--

2) Tell us about the worst show you've ever played?

Long time ago we played in a huge church in a small German town. Not the ideal acoustics for our music to say the least. There was a 2h minimum show so we decided to start with a freeform jam and build it up. It was pretty painful but hilarious.

3) What are some albums that you've been spinning in the van lately?

Dj Fish
This girl from Houston called Beoncee or something.
Lukas Nystrand von Unge EP

---

4) What would your metal band name be?

Dark mist. Album would be called foggy future.

5) What are you up to for the rest of the year post-SXSW

Playing shows & make some videos. Also trying to come up with wittier answers for future interviews.

City boyz and galz love to play the bridge and tunnel card. "Hey, that man isn't showing enough city respect. If you're going to come to our Big Apple please be sweet and cute."

7. Do you hate when people who run the same old tired joke for well past its expiration date address you as "guys" when there is clearly one (strikingly beautiful) female in the band?

Yes.

"Do you hate when people who run the same old tired joke for well past its expiration date" You must be talking about the idiots who comment on this blog who know nothing about music so they just say something stupid like 935 & 1247.

^ My friend, that's exactly who I was speaking of.

in the late 70s we had New Wave. It brought out some great acts such as Missing Persons and Gary Numan and Tubeway Army.
Things have gone full circle and made music more watered down and Uninteresting. Just like movies coming out of Hollywood there is nothing original being produced anymore. Sad Days..This is pure garbage..

Oh, and Grandpa, please remember ... it's not 70s, it's '70s.

Looking glass reminds me so much to DEPECHE MODE's 80's albums :) not her voice but the music. They learned from the best! ;)
