Parquet Courts @ Acheron in January (more by Dylan Johnson)
PC

While the members hail from Texas, it was living stoned and starving in Brooklyn (and Ridgewood, Queens) that made Parquet Courts the band that turned heads with the short sharp Light Up Gold. Taking a break from its follow-up, Parquet Courts will be heading back to Texas for SXSW this week (full schedule below), where they'll play the Friday BrooklynVegan free day party with Off!, Trust and more. In the midst of all this, singer Andrew Savage made time for our 5 QUESTIONS:

--

1) What is your favorite venue to play in the country and why?

Carnegie Hall -- it always has the best pit!

more below...

---

2) Tell us about the worst show you've ever played.

It involved veggie dogs cooked over a bonfire (of burning plastic) in some kids "back yard." Actually that show was amazing.

3) What are some albums that you guys have been spinning in the van lately?

Three is the magic number... first three Blue Oyster Cult records, first three Roxy Music records and first three Devo records.

4) What would your metal band name be? (This list of overused terms may help)

Me and my friend Harpal Assi (Wiccans, Video) talked forever about starting a metal band called Viking Funeral. I even drew up a logo, turns out its taken.

5) Be honest: how often do you change your clothes on tour?

My brother changes pants every day, from what I can tell. That seems excessive to me. Never play a show in your long johns, that's all I'm gonna say.

seriously, if you're gonna ask questions, could they at least be interesting questions that reveal something compelling about the artists? these are probably the laziest interview questions you could ask.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2014 9:09 AM

Wow. Very interesting comment. Thanks man. Real compelling.

I'm hoping it's spinmedia forcing you all to do this - please tell them it's embarrassing everyone involved. Sorta sad to watch happen. This isn't gonna make this blog more popular you're just watering down the little credibility it has left that spinmedia's terrible ideas haven't already blown away.

SPINNERZZZ you should consider taking the obvious rampant feedback from all bv visitors that these '5 questions' posts are god awful and killing this site. do you want to preserve the value of your investment?

5 Questions with SHUT THE FUCK UP

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2014 10:46 AM

I actually think the changing pants answer was funny. And I hate to admit that I don't change my pants everyday, and I don't even tout.
