Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst recently announced that his new solo album, Upside Down Mountain, will be out on May 20 via Nonesuch, and he’s just released a new single from it, titled “Governor’s Ball.” Hear Nebraska points out that it’s a song about a kid getting lost at a music festival,” but if he’s talking about NYC festival Governors Ball, he should take out that apostrophe! Though, he wouldn’t be the only one who added it. It’s a very common misspelling of the Randall’s Island festival named after its original location “Governors Island” (governor plural). Listen to the new song below.

Conor’s tour with Dawes brings him to the NYC-area for shows on May 22 at The Space at Westbury and July 29 at Central Park Summerstage (tickets), and he also plays Ggistock at NYC’s Greene Space on April 10 (sold out).

Meanwhile, Governors Ball (which Conor does not play) happens on Randall’s Island from June 6-8 with Jack White, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Interpol, The Strokes and more (tickets).
