Nothing at Saint Vitus - 3/20/14 (via @nicoletteelvie)
Nothing

After playing SXSW, Philly shoegazers Nothing brought their tour to NYC for a sold-out show at Saint Vitus last night (3/20) with Dark Blue, Sannhet and York Factory Complaint. During their set they covered Nirvana's "Sliver" (which they've done before), and unARTig was on the scene to capture it. Check out a video of their cover, plus one of them playing "Get Well" and videos of the three openers, below.

Nothing's tour has them back in NYC for a free Converse Rubber Tracks Live show on April 4 at Glasslands with DIIV, which is now also "sold" out.

And speaking of Nirvana, Seattle police reexamined Kurt's death case, saying "It's a suicide. This is a closed case." Nirvana also have other news, including a campaign to turn Kurt's childhood home into a museum, a Rock Hall update, a Record Store Day 7", and a cover of "Dumb" by Sivu. More on all that here.

On any given night throughout this great land of ours there are literally thousands of bands covering Nirvana songs. Why is this band being one of thousands news worthy?

i dont understand music

None of these bands have the balls to cover a "Bleach" song, or one that isn't on the greatest hits CD, for that matter.

My high school band covered Nirvana too. I can probably dig up some audio if you want it, BV.

Effectively de-balled.

I once used a baby carrot and scraped the word Nirvana into a hummus plate.

Dave Hill played the riff to Smells Like Teen Spirit on his radio show the other day, where was the story about that?

Who gives a sucks

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2014 6:03 PM

Why not cover Nirvana? They were essentially a Pixies cover band anyway.

To quote Mr. FF, "YOU'RE ALL CITY STUFF..."

ouch!

this has to be one of the worst, painful, and cringeworthy renditions of "Sliver". The main guy can't take the higher notes so the last verse is performed by the fat dude, who turns out to be even worse. If you can't imitate Cobain's falsetto, just do it in your voice or don't do it.

For those who forgot, watch the original, see what I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QECJ9pCyhns

Yeah that was fucking terrible. What a shitty band. Dark Blue too. So bad it's parody.

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2014 1:57 PM

This sucks so much, they don't even know the right lyrics. The one dude is just mumbling like an asshole. This proves once again that Nirvana are an uncoverable band.

The only reason Nirvana continues to get ANY coverage anywhere in 2014 is because it was the first time most of you fuckers heard "alternative" music when the played the life out of SLTS on every Top 40 and AOR radio station under the sun that year. They were essentially the original Green Day.

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2014 5:47 PM

Nicky Money is a pathetic human.

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2014 7:45 PM

Wow, this band is truly terrible.
