Numero Group releasing Dinosaur Jr. singles and Chicago soul comp for #RSD14, opening popup shop in Brooklyn

Reissue label The Numero Group are known for having expert taste and some of the best packaging around. They recently put out a compilation of ’70s-era Laurel Canyon songwriter Ned Doheny and last year put out that Unwound box and a four-LP set of rare Twin Cities funk titled Purple Snow: Forecasting the Minneapolis Sound. They’ve always got some interesting Record Store Day exclusives and this year those are:

Dinosaur Jr.: Visitors 5×45: Dinosaur Jr.’s first four singles plus pairing “Show Me The Way” with a cover of the Byrds’ “Feel A Whole Lot Better.”

South Side Story: a compilation of rare Chicago soul groups.

For the last three years Numero has operated a pop-up show in Chicago on Record Store Day and will do so again this year (4/19). A week after that, Numero Group is heading to Brooklyn for a pop-up at Greenpoint’s Human Gallery (110 Meserole Ave) from April 25 – 27 from noon – 8 PM each day. Says the label:

We’ll be taking over all 700 square feet of the space for the entire weekend of April 25th-27th, stocking the place with thousands of LPs, 45s, and CDs that we found tucked away in a warehouse on Long Island. Our very own Rob Sevier and Ken Shipley will DJ intermittently throughout the day. We’ll also be bringing tons of deleted items and damaged stock, selling it all at blow-out prices. Wholesalers welcomed. Everything there will be priced to move. We have no interest in trucking it back to Chicago.

In addition to the used vinyl, the Numero pop-up will feature a “wide array of high quality records from Numero, Cali-Tex, JR, Asterisk, and Numerophon,” as well as the label’s Record Store Day items.
