The 24th Annual Tibet House US Benefit Concert took place at Carnegie Hall last night (3/11) with Patti Smith, New Order, Iggy Pop, The National, Sufjan Stevens, Robert Randolph, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, and many more.

As always, the night featured many collaborations--Iggy Pop with New Order, Sufjan Stevens with The National, Nico Muhly with Philip Glass, and so on. Headliner Patti Smith also paid tribute to the late Lou Reed by covering Transformer's "Perfect Day." Video footage of Iggy Pop and New Order playing Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "Transmission," and NO's own "Californian Grass" are in this post. UPDATE: Footage of The National and Sufjan Stevens performing "Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks," "This Is the Last Time," and "I Need My Girl" can also be found below.

More pictures, those videos, and the full Tibet House US 24th Annual Benefit setlist lie after the jump...

Moving on.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:24 AM

I'd rather eat lizard head salad than go to this.

OR worse yet, a Phish show!

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:27 AM

Glad you weren't there.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:38 AM

Great night of music but how is this actually helping Tibet? Also, I love Sumner but he shouldn't be using the New Order name for this (he was the only member there) and they only played Joy Division songs (fine by me).

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:40 AM

Although Phillip Glass introduced them as "The National" and "New Order" the program noted that it was just three members from each group present.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:44 AM

it's not helping Tibet. it's rich white people grandstanding so they can feel better about themselves.

Iggy looks prettier than Patti

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:47 AM

Remember how many Sandy charity shows there were...

Do you realize how many neighborhoods/houses haven't been build?

Barely anything has been done.

Buddhist Monk sausage party. Meh.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:51 AM

Patti looks like she's trying to take a dump standing up.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 11:52 AM

Unfortunately this show was very lackluster.

Happy Year of the Wood Horse, BV and commentators. Thanks to all the performers and support personnel, that donated their time and skill.

City parentz like to leave the kids at home for a night out at Carnegie Hall, celebrating causes they care little to nothing about. Ah, city joy.

"Unfortunately this show was very lackluster."

No, it wasn't. Thanks for your input, though!

^ this is the guy that spent a whole day defending The National in that other thread

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 1:40 PM

Uneven show at best. Patti Smith was very good, Iggy good but sad, New Order meh, Techung dreadful, Tim Fain and PG very good, Nico Muhly and PG so-so, Sufjan (pronounced "Soof-yan" apparently--who knew?) Stevens good, and The National so-so.

They didn't let me see Robert Randolph because I came in the middle of his set and the staff didn't realize it was only rock 'n' roll sorta. Staff agressively made people turn off the cellphones of the few in attendance that could work those newfangled gizmos. Take that whippersnappers! Worst idea: not having Iggy sing "love will tear us apart again". He just backed up on the chorus and it sounded terrible.

Posted by Ortho Stice | March 12, 2014 2:17 PM

2:17- I wasn't there but what makes Iggy "good but sad"? Please explain.

Posted by anonymous | March 12, 2014 2:34 PM

"Worst idea: not having Iggy sing "love will tear us apart again"."

By getting the name of the song wrong your opinion about everything has her rendered meaningless.

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2014 2:34 PM

Hey, 2:17. If you didn't know that was how to pronounce Sufjan's name, you're not smart enough to be writing a review.
