Primus at Big Day Out in January (more by Chris Graham)

Les Claypool was just in NYC playing three shows with his Duo de Twang, and he's since announced that that other band's he in, Primus, will be hitting the road this May/June. That tour won't bring Les & co. back to NYC, but they'll be nearby for a show in Port Chester at The Capitol Theatre on June 24 and another in Asbury Park at Stone Pony Summerstage on June 28. The Asbury Park show (and a Big Flats, NY show a day earlier) are with The Dean Ween Group, but no other acts announced for the Cap show yet.

Tickets for the Cap show go on sale Friday (3/7) at noon, and you can check Ticketmaster for the general on-sale for the Asbury Park show, but Primus' site says there's a presale on Tuesday (3/4).

Primus are also among the many artists whose music is in True Detective.

One of Les Claypool's Due de Twang shows in NYC was the BrooklynVegan-presented show at Brooklyn Rod & Gun. You've already seen pictures of that one, and now you can check out an audio stream and a video from the show, with the list of Primus dates, below...

Classic “big brother music.” The only people who are halfway forgiven for giving a shit about Primus are guys who are like fifteen years old and still haven’t come into their own, and they idolize their retarded stoner big brother because he’s got a car and he brags about having sex with girls (without truth) and he’s got a rockin’ dustache and he listens to Primus. Luckily, by the time these guys are seventeen or so, their brother is driving a forklift at the dump and they’re like “what the fuck was I thinking, my brother is a huge piece of shit and Primus has always sucked.”

So, Primus fans, pick one. You’re either the kid who’s gonna grow out of if or you’re the big brother.

P.S. – Les Claypool fucking sucks and you’re in serious need of retuning if you can’t tell.

are you going to write that same message in every Primus thread?

3:03 = File under "tries way too hard".

Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2014 4:13 PM

3:03 you sound like an awfully fun person with impeccable taste in music. I'd love to know who you enjoy so I could attend a show and be surrounded by people like you.

how is this guy not an assed whole?

Posted by Malembi | March 3, 2014 5:30 PM

3:03 speaks the truth.

3:03 nailed it

They're a sentimental favorite but I just can't imagine or justify spending $40-60 plus service charges to see them at this point, even if they focused on classic material.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen a comment exactly like 3:03's on another article about Primus. Whoever you are, 3:03, you must be really proud of yourself for having come up with something so clever.

I was excited to see them, but after 10 minutes I'd had enough. Les is an amazing bass player but watching him wank gets old pretty quick.

Old dad rock. Boring

3:03 is spot on

3:03 is the one who speaks the truth.

Primus is the worst band to ever exist. Worse than Lady Lamb, even!!
