Queen

I think the thing that's really special is that this is the real deal. This is live. In today's music world, you go to a concert and you're getting a lot of playbacks. There's click tracks. It is what it is. I'm not hating on it. But this is the real deal. This is pure. We're not playing to a click. We're not playing to tracks. This is all live instruments. I'm singing all the vocals with these guys on vocals. It's purely organic. I think in today's day and age, it's very exciting for an audience to see something that has that much heart. [Adam Lambert to Rolling Stone]
Back in 2011, we asked What's the worst example of a band replacing their singer? around the time INXS, Journey, and "Sublime With Rome" were all touring. Giving all three of those a run for their money, American Idol season 8 runner up Adam Lambert will tour as the lead singer of Queen this year, in place of the late Freddie Mercury. He's performed with the band before but this will be their first full tour together. Can't wait.

The tour, which features original members Brian May and Roger Taylor (but not John Deacon), comes to NYC for a show on July 17 at Madison Square Garden. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 14.

I would go if the tickets were not super expensive. My main issue is why no John Deacon?

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:05 PM

John Deacon want nothing to do with the music business and is a semi-recluse

Also, there were 4 members of Queen not 2

This is not Queen

"But this is the real deal. This is pure. We're not playing to a click. We're not playing to tracks. This is all live instruments."

This is both complete bullshit and really fucking sad. Its not the "real deal", its a pure money grab and complete exploitation of a legacy. The fact that the singer they brought it is amazed that its actually "live instruments" is so sad, I can't even fathom the levels of fraud involved.

Brian May looks thrilled.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:19 PM

I'm not really a fan of any incarnation of Queen, but this is really, truly embarrassing.

Get your party gown
Get your pigtail down
Get your heart beatin' baby

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:19 PM

Can't believe queen replaced Freddie mercury with this gay boy.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:28 PM

Brian May is the most underrated guitar player ever, and now people can remember him for this abomination.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:32 PM

More respect if they called this 'Playing the music of...'

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:32 PM

Brian May is Queen, like Tommy Iommi is Sabbath

The others were important for a time, but the sound and vision was always those blokes'

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:38 PM

^You are a clueless fucking idiot

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:44 PM

One cannot use baba ghanouj as a replacement for hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:52 PM

Was William Hung unavailable?

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 1:54 PM

the wild thing about queen is that every member wrote their own tunes and they all had hits...so i'll argue that may & taylor can call themselves queen...regardless of how awful they are.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 2:05 PM

Hey you know what if this gives Brian May funding for his scientific research that one day results in human beings traveling through space and time, I'm all for it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 2:06 PM

"I'm not really a fan of any incarnation of Queen"

Then your opinion of music is invalid

"This is not Queen"

Agreed

"Brian May looks thrilled."

I laughed

"Brian May is Queen, like Tommy Iommi is Sabbath"

You are a very silly person

John Deacon is the only one with any integrity or respect to Freddie. I think he played one benefit show after Freddie's death and said "never again"

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 2:09 PM

John Deacon has essentially been out of the picture since the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert in 1992. He joined his former band mates to perform one song with Elton John at the opening of a ballet in Paris in 1997. But he's been totally retired from the music business ever since.

Madison Square Garden? Are there seriously 19,763 people who believe this garbage and will pay to see it?

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 2:19 PM

"Then your opinion of music is invalid"

Right. Because this theatrical bullshit is the end-all be-all of music. Fucking moron.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:01 PM

@ 2:19. Yes, people will eat this shit up. I mean, who else is paying to see Billy Joel through December..

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:02 PM

say what you want, the Lambert kid has pipes.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:23 PM

I would go to this just because I've never seen Brian May play live and he's one of my favorite guitar players of all time and a huge influence. Tickets will be a zillion dollars tho so I guess not

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:29 PM

I guess I'd prefer, like other people in this thread have said, if they call it May/Lambert performing the music of Queen but whatever, nothing really matters. anyone can see.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:30 PM

"Tickets will be a zillion dollars tho so I guess not"

Top ticket price is 171 dollars with lowest 49. If that equals a zillion dollars to you, may i suggest you should not even think about going to shows ever

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:40 PM

$49 plus fees = what, 70 bucks?

For the shittiest seats in MSG?

not worth it. But yeah less than I was expecting.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 3:42 PM

"@ 2:19. Yes, people will eat this shit up. I mean, who else is paying to see Billy Joel through December.."

Yeah, but at least its actually Billy Joel.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 4:05 PM

Let's definitely blow this way out of proportion and not have any fun ever.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2014 9:29 PM

Hey Queen? Get George Michael or GTFO.

Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2014 1:00 AM

Adam Lambert: "Screw the hater." Profound and so true!! Stay home with your cold cds and obsess about Freddie! I am going to have an experience of a lifetime at Madison Square Garden seeing Queen+Adam Live! Adam is beyond belief A M A Z I N G singing Queen! It is about the music you haters and worst Queen Fans ever! You people don't have a clue about Freddie! He would be in awe of Adam to quote Brian!! John Deacan collects the money while he hibernates and cannot cope with life! Look to him!

Posted by barbls | March 8, 2014 4:34 AM

if i farted into a flame, what would happened?

Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2014 8:34 AM

I think mark martel has better vocals

Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2014 2:13 PM

can't wait, bv? seriously hope you're being sarcastic.

I saw queen (with freddie mercury, that being the only time queen existed) 3x and this spectacle, same as the tour with paul Rodgers, are crimes against humanity. everyone involved (promoters, agents and-sadly - taylor and may themselves) should be on trial in the hague.

and lambert and his defender (and resident psychopath)4:34am up there should be in an internment/reeducation camp and re-evaluated in 10 yrs. minimum.

rockin daddy out.

Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2014 6:10 PM

He has the THICKEST hair I have ever seen. Is it real? I love it :D

Posted by Mccaffrey | March 10, 2014 6:04 AM

Brian May is losing it. I have no words to explain his mindset.

This Lambert character prances around on stage. He is not a performer. Glad the great iconic Freddie Mercury is not here to witness this "monstrosity".

Posted by Jennifer | March 10, 2014 9:31 AM

No tickets available on presale

Posted by Anonymous | March 10, 2014 10:04 AM

Well, I guess there's one loser interested in this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 10, 2014 10:29 AM

^ apparently joining the one loser intent on shitting on his good time

nice

Posted by Anonymous | March 10, 2014 10:40 AM

10:29 who said I was interested? I was just curious how it was selling. F'in morons on this page think they know everything!

Posted by Anonymous | March 10, 2014 10:45 AM

I can think of one thing dear old Freddie could have not done that would have allowed him to be present with us today .... let's see if somma ya can guess what that thing is

Posted by Anonymous | March 10, 2014 11:37 AM

Adam can hit all the notes...It could be great....accept he's changing the songs, thinks he's on idol. You don't mess with Queens music dude, they've been around for too many years and everyone knows how they go. Adding his own little twist does NOT make the songs better, it makes them SUCK.
