Sasquatch

Though Sasquatch was doing it much differently (different lineup and weekends far apart), the trend, started by Coachella - of weekend festivals running two weekends in a row has hit its first big snag. Gorge, Washington festival Sasquatch announces:

The 2nd weekend of Sasquatch! Music Festival on Fourth of July Weekend has been canceled. The traditional Sasquatch! Music Festival on Memorial Day Weekend will continue as planned. A limited number of Memorial Day Weekend passes are still available for purchase at LiveNation.com.

Ticketmaster will refund the credit cards used to purchase passes for the Fourth of July Weekend. For those who purchased tickets to both weekends, half of the total purchase price (which was applied to the Fourth of July Weekend) will be refunded. The discount on the Memorial Day Weekend purchase will remain in effect. For more information, please call Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.

"The Sasquatch! community has spoken. They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only," said Jeff Trisler, President of Live Nation Seattle.

Some of the acts scheduled to perform on Fourth of July Weekend will be making alternate plans to perform at other venues. Information will be released as available.

at least it was an honest and early announcement - refreshing

I think they handled this really well. I'm not really into music festivals, but Sasquatch always seemed like a much more pleasant option than getting heatstroke in Indio.

Sasquatch was a really great band and they have a lot of good songs too.

No question the July 4th weekend lineup was far superior.

Wasn't planning on going this year, but went in 2010-2011 and it's a great festival.

Sucks that the better lineup got cancelled. I guess this goes to show that kids going to these don't care about the quality of the lineup.

I almost booked flight to Seattle to go, good thing I didn’t. Money hungry Live Nation deserved this. It bit them in butt trying to expand to two weekends and cutting the lineup down and charging more….Check out my blog for festival news and rumors: http://wevebeentherebefore.blogspot.com
