You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Pampers, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion @ Union Pool
Pampers full-frontal art-punk has made them one of the best new bands in Brooklyn. Openers “Depends” have been revealed to actually be the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, making for a very hot double bill!

Drive By Truckers, Blitzen Trapper @ Terminal 5
Good time party twangers Drive by Truckers just released their new album, English Oceans, and their tour in support of it pulls into NYC tonight. It’s a good double-bill with Portland Oregon’s Blitzen Trapper opening. Tickets are still available.

Ex Hex, EULA, Household @ Glasslands
Ex Hex is the newest project of Mary Timony (Wild Flag, Helium, Autoclave), and from seeing them at SXSW and CMJ, it sounds like Mary is still churning out great songs over 20 years into her career. This is their first of two NYC shows this week, and good openers tonight too.

Nothing, Sannhet, Dark Blue, York Factory Complaint @ Saint Vitus
Heavy shoegazers Nothing put on some of the best sets we saw at SXSW, and now that we’re back in NYC, we’re more than happy to get a chance to see them again. Great openers too: consistently solid local post-metal band Sannhet, new-ish Philly trio Dark Blue (with members of Clockcleaner, Paint It Black and Purling Hiss), and the industrial noise of York Factory Complaint. Sold out.

‘Chickfactor 22’ w/ Withered Hand, Jim Ruiz Set, Lilys, Amor de Dias @ The Bell House
The good folks at Chickfactor throw another birthday party at the Bell House, with lots of hand-picked bands both old and new. Tonight’s the only NYC appearance of Scotland’s  Withered Hand (with King Creosote joining him); , and a rare appearance from Jim Ruiz Set (who are moving to Hamburg, see ’em while you can); veteran indie rock chameleons Lilys; and Clientele/Pipas offshoot Amor de Dias.

The War On Drugs, White Laces, Lantern @ Bowery Ballroom
The War on Drugs sound better than ever on their new album, Lost in the Dream, which takes the sound they honed on 2011’s Slave Ambient and expands on it. Tonight they’re on night 2 of their sold-out 3-night run in NYC.

Vaadat Charigim, Palm, Yonatan Gat (of Monotonix), Exocomets @ Death By Audio
How often do you get to say, “I’m gonna go see this Israeli shoegaze band”? Tonight, with Vaadat Charigim, you can do that. Plus: they’re really good.

Excepter, Mirror Mirror Esque NT, O Paradiso, Brother Bruno (DJ Set) @ Radio Bushwick
It’s a night of avant and arty sounds, headlined by Brooklyn collective Excepter.

The xx @ Park Avenue Armory
The xx continue their run of 25 shows at the Park Avenue Armory which goes through March 29. Each show is extremely intimate (holds 40 people) and very sold out.

Painted BLACK Act III: Ryan Hemsworth, ASTR, Glass Gang @ Irving Plaza
It’s the third of three shows in the Painted BLACK series at Irving Plaza, and tonight’s will get dancey with cloud rap/pop producer Ryan Hemsworth, synth pop duo ASTR and more synth pop from Glass Gang.

Keren Ann @ City Winery
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Keren Ann has been busy lately being a new mom, but is about get back into the music side of her life.  No word on a new album, but maybe she’ll play some new songs tonight.

Wild Ones, My Body @ Baby’s All Right
Portland’s Wild Ones are signed to Topshelf, but unlike many of their labelmates, they make synthy dream pop. They’ll be supporting Typhoon on tour soon, but tonight you can catch them headlining a show in NYC at Baby’s All Right.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
