American Football

We already knew that influential emo veterans American Football would be reissuing their sole LP via Polyvinyl on May 20 (pre-order), and now like related band Owls are currently doing, they will reunite to play live too! They'll play Champaign/Urbana, IL's Pygmalion Festival in September (lineup) and then will play NYC on October 11 at Webster Hall.

Tickets for the NYC show go on sale via this Ticketweb link on Friday (4/25) and there's an exclusve BrooklynVegan presale starting Thursday (4/24) at noon. Check back here Thursday morning for the presale password.

UPDATE: Password HERE.

Meanwhile, as discussed, Owls' tour with Hop Along and Glocca Morra hits NYC on July 11 at Bowery Ballroom. Tickets for that show are still available.

And in more related news, we just caught American Football member Mike Kinsella with his band Their / They're / There at the BV-Chicago presented Record Store Day in-store at Saki Records in Chicago. Check out a full set of pictures at BV Chicago.

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 11:17 AM

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 11:20 AM

will not be sitting through this band again. there are so many bands from that era of emo and earlier that need to have a reunion. twinkecore is awful, even if it is from the orginators.

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 11:34 AM

weird.

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 11:55 AM

This has to be the biggest room any Kinsella related project has played in NYC, right?

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 11:56 AM

Whaaaat.

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 12:02 PM

Even Capn Jazz played smaller rooms on their reunion tour and way more people are into them than American Football.

Then again, Mike Kinsella has 2 kids to feed and can't be making much money with Owen, so I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Cap N Jazz played the waterfront didn't they?

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 12:08 PM

They were supposed to play a free show at the Waterfront but it rained and they moved it to Brooklyn Bowl.

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 12:20 PM

They played Maxwell's after Brooklyn Bowl and it was epic.

No back to my "TV-set catering gig?"

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 12:35 PM

I think No Age was the headliner on that anyway. Cap'n Jazz headline Maxwell's later that night.

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 12:36 PM

BEST Kinsella project

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 1:19 PM

12:36 Cap'n Jazz was the headliner....no age played before them. Lightning Bolt played that show too

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 1:22 PM

These guys may be ok, but the band that really defines the era is the SPINNN DOCCTORS, and everyone knows it

Posted by Anonymous | April 21, 2014 2:05 PM
