Courtney Love

Courtney Love mentioned back in 2013 that she was planning to release a new solo album, and though that still hasn't happened, she's now officially set to release a new single "Wedding Day"/"You Know My Name" on May 4. "You Know My Name" just premiered on Steve Lamacq's BBC Radio 6 show, and can be listened to below.

Courtney also recently said Hole's mid-'90s lineup would reunite, but then said actually maybe not.

I can live through this

This is terrible

Nothing exciting, but still better than most mainstream stuff nowadays and even better than a lot of "indie" rock.

She's useless when Kurt or Billy aren't writing her songs.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 4:10 PM

Her 15mins of fame ended so long ago. Why won't she just go away?? Nobody under 30 wants to hear from some washed up 50 year old grunge rocker.

I wish I could unhear this piece crap song

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 4:21 PM

Album title "Yeah I shot Him"

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 4:22 PM

I really care about this.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 4:25 PM

That poor soul Steve Lamacq, I feel for him the most of all

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 4:37 PM

Courtney Love hates Bruce; I hate her.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 4:57 PM

The only people who MIGHT care about Hole are a relatively small population of ladies who were pre/early teens in the mid 90s. At least that's how I remember Hole fans back then. My friends' little sisters were big fans. To me, Hole was as cool in the 90s as Avril Lavigne was in the early 00s or as Miley Cyrus is now.

Live Through This is a classic album

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 5:15 PM

Highly auto tuned, wow. Sloppy editing. Redundant. Sounds like formulaic teen music, but with some shrieking thrown in. Which by the way....bad choice. She can barely sing these days. If she ever plays this out of the studio she's sure to disappoint. It's so bad I'm laughing.

I remember feeling really weird about Live Through This being released a week after Kurt's death. That said, I don't believe she killed him to launch her solo career. I'm sure that changing a release date in the music business probably isn't easy especially back then and he timing was an unfortunate coincidence. Her label probably loved all the free publicity though.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 5:23 PM

Is the restraining order Courtney's kid filed against her still in effect?

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 5:29 PM

Why did she kill Kurt cobain?

That question has never been answered

She shot him in the face with a 12 gauge
And never went to jail

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 6:11 PM

She didn't kill him to garner publicity for the album, he killed himself when he realized we live in a world where the album could be released

>>She didn't kill him to garner publicity for the album, he killed himself when he realized we live in a world where the album could be released

Friend. You've got two options up there, and I'm going to let you choice which approach to take. However, one is really more preferable than the other. K? The comma you used after "album" is known 'round here as a comma splice. It's all kinds of wrong. You either want a period, which would then require you to capitalize He. Or, should you choose the more dangerous route, make it a semicolon. Either way, you'll need a period at the end of the sentence, dork.

^^^ I still can't decide if I love or hate this new guy. ^^^

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 8:35 PM

How does this sound like formulaic teen music?

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 8:39 PM

Ha! Aww, that's cute. Love it. I'm not new. I've been a Brooklyn Friend for many o' years now. It's a great site for music news. That being said, the grammar that many use on this site is beyond atrocious. And think of it like this, if you don't learn now, you'll be forced to sooner or later. So you choose. You can get free advice from a music site comment section or you can her it from the guy who decided not to hire you because you couldn't construct a proper sentence. It's your call.

I love it!

There are three grammatical errors in your comment about grammar. Can you spot them?

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 9:47 PM

grammar faggotry must be stopped. it is the inevitable result of intellectual cuckolding, and is a kind of poison that must be passed from one cuckold to the next. if you see it, say something. start snitching.

I prefer to correct BV staffers' grammar, because they deserve the ridicule. Commenters should only get it when their comment is dumb. This comment wasn't so bad. I'd have given him a pass.

Posted by Sacher's unpaid editor | April 22, 2014 9:51 PM

...and see what I did there with the comma.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 9:52 PM

It is truly sad that this is a tad better than most pop music.
It really does not give anything positive to this tune.
That said, it does not suck.

I heard some time ago that Kurt accidentally killed himself fucking around with a gun in front of some people who were hanging out with him. Who knows exactly how this went down. Things got out of hand. Who and where are those people???? Would you have called 911 and hung around. Mega star shot dead and you are there stating he did it to himself by accident.

Maybe a deathbed confession some day at best.
Maybe a total bunch of crap.
At least it is something different other than Courtney killed him.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 9:58 PM

nobody needs junkies around. he did everyone a favor. in utero sucked. it was only gonna get worse.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 10:00 PM

@9:58 explain the infamous suicide letter?

I must say, whether by accident or intent, bravo on your possessive plural use there. You were speaking of the grammar done by more than one staff member. If it had been one, it be listed as staffer's grammar. Seeing as it was more than one, you selecting staffers' is showcasing possessive plural, as it should be.

Fuck. Yes. Nice going.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 10:55 PM

The funny thing is, I hit play on the link above, and upon it starting, I thought ... strange, they must have accidentally loaded the wrong song with this C. Love track.

Holy. Shit. Balls.

This is so painfully bad beyond words. My ears are now beating the shit out of me for forcing them to hear this fucking garbage.

Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2014 11:01 PM

I couldn't get through the whole song. Shut it down the second time she did that "aye aye aye aye" thing in the chorus. So bad!! Gotta say, her voice is worse than it was when she was popular... and it was pretty bad back then.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 12:26 AM

I liked this better when it was done by Joan Jett.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 9:32 AM

would've double-wrapped and done it circa "Man on the Moon"

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 10:02 AM

its not that bad.. better than most of the shit you hear on the radio

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 11:35 AM

Natty dreadlock in a tenement yard

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 11:58 AM

I can sleep well knowing Courtney can kick all of your whiney BV asses.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 12:26 PM

I learned some things about grammar in these comments. thanks, BV!

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2014 1:36 PM

Great tune. Look forward to more. Maybe even a tour?
