Doug Gillard released his excellent new solo album, Parade On, earlier this month which features 11 examples of his expert popsmithery. If you haven't heard it yet, you can check out the video for "Ready for Death" and a stream of dreamy new single "Your Eyes" below.

Doug also played a record release show at Glasslands on April 8 and NYC Taper was there:

Having previewed some of this material earlier in the month at Cake Shop, Gillard and his band were in fine form as they showed off new songs from Parade On alongside older Gillard songs like "Me & the Wind" and "Drip-Nose Boy". For a special treat, Gillard closed the set with one of Doug's earlier songs "I Am A Tree", first performed by his band Gem, and later, Guided by Voices.
You can stream NYC Taper's recordings of "Overseas" and "I Am a Tree" below and download the whole set at his website.

Doug's next solo dates are opening for his old bandmates Guided by Voices. He's playing both the NYC show (May 23. Bowery Ballroom) and the DC show (May 24. Black Cat) which are sold out.
