LCD's final show, MSG 4/2/2011 (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
LCD

Well, they didn't call it The Short Farewell. LCD Soundsystem's The Long Goodbye five-LP live album boxset of the group's final show (MSG, 4/2/2011) is being released on Record Store Day (April 19). And that goodbye is getting longer. As a leadup to that, an exhibit about the show/boxset will take over the exhibition room at Rough Trade NYC from April 7 - May 7. (That's the space that just had the Moog installation.) Here's what visitors can expect:

LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will immerse attendees in the sounds, sights and emotions of the band's historic April 2, 2011 farewell, an epic near 4-hour tour de force hailed by New York magazine as "a marvel of pure craft" and Rolling Stone as a "staggeringly great night." LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will come alive in multiple dimensions via exclusive video, advance pressings of the album's five vinyl LPs laid out on five turntables, and a massive assortment of 4" x 6" prints of images by longtime LCD photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya, many never before been seen--and all available for the taking and replenished weekly.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, 11 AM - 11 PM nightly.

talk about a long goodbye

could he milk another 34 ways this last show will be presented?

I predict a MiniDisc version is next

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:15 PM

holy crap how many more ways can they make money off this?

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:16 PM

cool vanity project yo. It's an advertisement dressed up like an exhibit.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:17 PM

See, back in the day, KCMU woulda rocked all five albums back-to-back, yo! KEXP might play one cut. As long as it's not over five minutes. Their tag line should really read: Where the music matters. So long as it fits into a commercial setting.

In other news, 2 weeks ago, I farted for about 5 minutes, maybe the longest fart in history. Then at the end of it, it turned into a shart. I had a documentary film crew there to film it.

There will be a screening of the film, called, So Long, I Thought I Would Die. It will be screened for a week at new Williamsburg venue Rough Toilet Paper. Also for RSD, there will be a 2 disc vinyl release. Of course it will be 180 gram shit colored with blood from my stool mixed in. Special deluxe limited edition of 100 wrapped in a soiled diaper.

How long before they reunite and tour again?

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:39 PM

Word on the street is they are already discussing that. After all the press dies down about the coffee James worked on, it's looking more and more like they will be doing a short tour and then follow that with something that DFA releases.

This reminds me of the last scene in the fly when goldblum and the machine fuse together and he's all grotesque and like "killl meee" but you just keep watching because its so horrible and geena davis is a total babe

Former #1 city boy can't let go.

"Word on the street is"

And what this moron troll means by word on the street is the voices he hears in his head. There will be no tour or reunion

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:49 PM

This "farewall" show was like 3 years ago and we still constantly hear news and get new releases from it.

I love LCD Soundsystem, but this is getting tiring. They should have just taken the three years off and made another record after that.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:52 PM

RIP LCD. All my prays.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:57 PM

It was a great show, but come on. I thought the whole point of disbanding LCD was to move on and do new things. This is getting pretty lame.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 4:58 PM

4:26 - please post payment info.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:00 PM

Shit this was three years ago?

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:04 PM

Hmmm.

Well, 4:49PM, the "he" is a she. And, the best part ... I'm friends with musicians who played at that MSG show. But it's OK. I understand it's easy for you to get distracted between the video games and if mom is calling for you to finish you vegetables and all that good stuff. Have fun. You should say hi if you ever come visit NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:05 PM

5:05 are you seriously bragging about knowing people associated with LCD Soundsystem? And, the best part... in a BV comment thread.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:10 PM

I saw James Murphy at Mamouns the other day... He are an entire Robust Platter in under 5 minutes... And that is a quite impressive feat!

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:19 PM

As another friend of the band, I can definitely tell you that they are talking about the idea of reuniting.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:21 PM

As an anon BV commentator, I can definitely tell you it's highly likely they are talking about the idea of reuniting.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:32 PM

"Word on the street is"

What street is that? I'd like to be sure to avoid it at all costs. I am assuming the street is in Bushwick

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:36 PM

As another friend of the band, I can definitely tell you that James Murphy ate a cheeseburger for lunch today.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 5:58 PM

As a friend of the band, I can tell you that I can bench press 210 pounds.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 6:00 PM

As another friend of the band, I can definitely tell you with certainty that James Murphy has been talking about the idea of eating a cheeseburger tomorrow as well. Also, they are reuniting.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 6:12 PM

You can bet that 5:05 is friend's with the band. And by the band, it means the ghosts that populate the box on the street where this fucking moron obviously lives

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 6:32 PM

LCD is the David Letterman of music

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 7:03 PM

Dear 6:32PM.

I don't care much for the topic of this conversation. As in, it could side either way and I'm fairly ehhh about it. However, your improper use of the possessive form of "friends'" really pisses me off. Learn how to properly use grammar. It'll treat you well in return. On a side note: you probably meant to say that you mean, as in, I mean, and not "it means". At least I sure as fuck hope so because if not, that is one serious fucking wreck of words.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 7:26 PM

Where are your friend's tonight?

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 7:52 PM

7:52, are you asking that of 7:26? Who in their right mind could believe that loser has any?

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 8:06 PM

Well, 7:26, that is rich coming from a true master of the english language using "fuck" twice in the same sentence.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 8:08 PM

As a friend of the band, james murphy eats a cheeseburger for every meal.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 9:13 PM

When did these guys turn into the Pixies?

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 9:39 PM

This guy is such a pathetic little clown. Seriously, can't he just concentrate on something else without milking his band for the next decade!? Move to Africa or something, go help children, anything!! Please, this is pathetic and screams "look at me" I'm still relevant.

What a tool.

Sold out

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 11:08 PM

Not as bad as his subway soundtrack idea. If that ever comes to fruition I don't think I'll ever take the subway again.

Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2014 11:26 PM

James Murphy also has a collaboration with blue mountain coffee.

Never was so much fuss made over so little. Murphy, just fuck off, already.

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2014 10:09 AM

I gave James Murphy a high five at Moogfest 2011. He gave me a cold.

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2014 10:20 AM

As a friend with benefits of the band, I can tell you that they are familiar with the ways of the Karma Sutra.
