Ultra

"As electronic music fans are recovering from another year of the Ultra Music Festival, Miami's mayor is calling for the three-day music fest to be scrapped after a security guard was trampled at the event on Friday night.

According to WSVN, Erica Mack, 28, remains in critical condition after she was trampled by a crowd that pushed down a fence at the festival.

Yesterday, as festival goers attended the final day of the event, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado pledged that Ultra won't be in Miami in years to come, WSVN reported.

"It's time to say goodbye," he said. "We are bringing a resolution to the City Commission. If approved, the city will deny the permits for next year. We'd rather take quality of life instead of money."" [FOX]

Money over quality of life is practically in the Miami city charter.

I would get such a boner if this is cancelled. Thousands of rich kids on MDMA will have nowhere to turn.

Well, except another EDM festival. But maybe other cities will see the light.

Just cancel them all. All festivals. Everywhere. Shut it down, we've had enough.

This, according to BV, is a recent related article: "Monster Magnet played Chicago, cancel rest of tour due to flu". Hmmmm.....

"Miami" and "quality of life" haven't been used in the same sentence since 1972.

Mr Mayor...you don't seem to realize what your city is made of these days. Don't bite the hand that feeds.

I say this should go ahead next year. Only it needs to be held on a Jai Alai court... while the games are going on.

Or maybe the security company should be shut down for putting their female security guards in areas that are a high security risk. Or maybe they should have anticipated large crowds of surging children. I bet a 6 foot 4 muscle-head guard would have just started dropping the little white kids.
