The Jazz June at Saint Vitus in 2013 (via)
Jazz June

'90s Emo Reunion Month does not end. We've already heard about a potential Mineral reunion and a definite American Football reunion, plus got a new Sunny Day Real Estate release all in under a week. Now, another veteran band The Jazz June are streaming "Over Underground," their first new song in 12 years, which comes out on the previously announced split with Dikembe July 1 via Tiny Engines/Topshelf. It's a solid song for a band that's been gone for over a decade (or just in general), but doesn't sound like they're just "picking up where they left off" either. That's a good sign, since The Jazz June have an Evan Weiss-produced album coming out later this year too.

Check it out below...

And here's Dikembe's half of the split:

And if you missed it, here's that new Sunny Day Real Estate song...

@10:48 If you don't know The Jazz June that's your loss. Cute that you feel like you're offending anyone with your ignorance though.

Yes! They were one of my favorite bands of 1998!

This band just really isn't that good. Never could get into them. One of the worst of the genre/period IMO.

Yes, 4/25 - I'm sure they're having a good time and all, and maybe that's enough of a reason to 'get the band back together' but I think it would be hard to argue that anybody really cares that they're back, even if they know who they are--I saw them a few times 'back in the day' (the 90s?) opening for much better forgotten bands. Sadly, it's not for me to decide, and I am not the kind of person who might try to stop them; I just don't care that much., but hey Jazz June, welcome back anyway.

Also, I remember thinking this in 1997 (or whenever), but could you possibly have a dumber, more stereotypical 'emocore' band name? I can imagine the band discussing: Well, jazz is cool; we like to talk about jazz. The NOU talks about jazz, and June is a nice fuzzy month, and putting the two words together is cryptic in a cool way, so how about Jazz June? All the brands of vacuum cleaners are taken, so why not? SOUNDS GREAT, they all agreed.

Yeah, the band name comes from a poem, you dick.

Love this band and I'm glad them and many bands from that scene are back.
