Burlington, VT psych duo The Vacant Lots will release their new album, Departure, on July 1 via Sonic Cathedral. Driven by an eight-mile-high 12-string riff and throbbing vintage keyboards, first single "Mad Mary Jones" is a groovy stormer that bodes well for the rest of the LP. You can check it out via the Samuel Quinn-directed video which makes its premiere in this post.
The Vacant Lots are currently out with Sonic Cathedral labelmate Dean Wareham for a few shows of his tour, including Bowery Ballroom on Saturday (4/5) that also has Beijing's Carsick Cars (who played NYC last night) on the bill as well. Tickets are still available. This summer The Vacant Lots will tour the UK with Brian Jonestown Massacre.
