Thee Oh Sees @ Coachella 2013 (more by Wei Shi)
Thee Oh Sees

As mentioned, Thee Oh Sees' hiatus was a brief one -- the same amount of time off for most bands wouldn't even be noticed -- and they're playing California shows in May. Still no word if a proper tour is in the works, but the band will play Brooklyn's Northside Festival, an outdoor show at McCarren Park on June 14. Like the CHVRCHES show on 6/15, this is free and open to the public but you will need to RSVP which you can do beginning Friday (4/25) at noon.

Thee Oh Sees' new album, Drop, was released on Record Store Day (4/19) and you can stream it via Rdio. Updated tour dates are listed below...

People complain about everything, but I can hit up this, then see Beirut, then go to Courtney Barnett all in one day. Sounds like a good Saturday.

i'm down. i still don't get why they felt the need to announce they were going on hiatus, though. i know they usually release a single every time dwyer comes up with half a song but musicians routinely go that long without any activity and don't feel the need to call it anything.

Can't wait for this one

@1:59, because Dwyer was reconfiguring the band. It's a whole new band. Drop was Dwyer and some session player friends on it and the touring band are all new folks made up of some Los Angeles musicians.

its because he moved to Los Angeles a

Agreed, friend. Agreed. I think the reason bands feel the need to do so today is because they feel it will generate more interest upon returning to a somewhat normal release/touring schedule. I think it's a gimmick. Look at The Pixies. Once a great band, and today they are shmucks rehashing songs from the '80s and '90s. The only reason worth seeing them today is to witness the almighty power and beauty of Paz on stage.

It was time for a change - the live line-up was playin the same set of songs for so long and thee oh sees show way more diversity on the albums

No Bridget? No Petey?

1:55 you're not catching Barnett unless you're leaving in the middle of Beirut which is my problem with Northside - all the shows are on directly against each other so with the exception/addition of the 2 Mccarren Park daytime shows (which are free anyways) you're pretty much paying to see 1 show a day.

This show will be extremely good.
