Last night (5/4) at Trans Pecos, Todd P's new venue in the old Silent Barn space (915 Wyckoff Ave), there was a pretty great bill of mostly local music from the noisy Tonstartsbandht, the dark LODRO, a solo set from former Vivian Girl Cassie Ramone, Plastic Pinks and, from Puerto Rico, Davila 666 frontman AJ Davila and his band Terror Amor. We caught the latter three, and pictures of those are in this post.

They continue below...

I can only imagine how jealous Cassie must be of Kickball Katy who is touring the world with her kick ass band while she is playing in hell holes like this.

Katy is in a "kickass band"?

Been meaning to check out this place for awhile. Can you drink outside?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2014 4:35 PM

Hmm...the joint looks a bit sterile.

Mr. Foot Fetish is my favorite band.

4:28 how does it feel to play no gigs anywhere with no band?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2014 4:42 PM

aj davilla look like they're really having fun; keep it up! the less photos of insufferable attendees holding budweisers, the better!

Why'd you skip LODRO and Tonstartssbandt? By far the best bands on the bill?

La Sera are enviable to someone somewhere? How so

This spot isnt a garage rock room thank god.

They mostly do smarter stuff than this show

Trans Pecos is the exact opposite of the former Silent Barn: totally lifeless and sterile.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2014 8:39 PM

Trans Pecos is pretty handsome and sounds amazing. Other places have the fun mural thing covered, this spot is more grown up. To each their own. I prefer a place where the music isn't upstaged by the "quirky" decor.

you'll understand when you're older, 8:39

What is DIY

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2014 9:30 PM

8:39 : silent barn's all yours. i'll even throw in some neon poster board, glue, glitter, and a shitty mirror so you can keep busy while the bands "shred"!

The new Silent Barn is so inspiring. It's about time there is a safe place where everyone who contributes can have a say and where any musician can play on the stage. We need more community building and less elitist booking. The people who work at the space and contribute their time are the real community. It is so enriching to volunteer and to be part of something you can believe in. You make friendships that last a lifetime.

Todd P sucks donkey dick

I really like Trans Pecos. It's refreshing

Is this place like "officially" open even? Or are they still doing work on it

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2014 12:50 PM

Looks new

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2014 1:14 PM

Katy is the next Courtney Love (dried up ranting prune). 5-10 years from now on there will be a "Whatever happened to that Chick in that Chick band with the Boobs." We will all scratch our heads.

Katy? Odd fixation

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2014 2:30 PM

place is real nice

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2014 3:35 PM

The life 8:39 remembers from the old Silent Barn might actually have been what was infesting the couches there

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2014 4:17 PM

cassie played a great set. was a song in the middle somewhere, only caught the words "carry on carry on" and "all those dreams were wrong (or gone)". something like that. that was a great one, and the last song was badass, too. wish she had played "baby," unless I missed it earlier on in the set. song is fuckin rad. if the sound improves in this place could be a good new venue.

did you go to new silent barn accidentally 10:28?
