The Ohio Players back in the '70s

The Coney Island Seaside Concert Series may not be happening this year but another long-running series of free summer concerts, the BAM R&B Festival at MetroTech is back for its 20th Anniversary in 2014. Happening Thursdays from June 5 - August 7 at MetroTech Commons, this year's line-up includes:

June 5: Darlene Love
June 12: Nicholas Payton presents Black American Music
June 19: The Ohio Players
June 26: Butler Bernstein & The Hot 9
Juy 3: Davell Crawford
July 10: Fredericks Brown
July 17: Third World
July 24: Bobby Rush
July 31: Snarky Puppy
Aug 7: Lisa Fischer
The BAM R&B Festival shows run from noon - 2 PM and are free and open to the public.

Noon to 2pm is a bummer with us folks with a day job who don't work near Metro Tech Commons. Sucks because I would love to see that Ohio Players show!

Bobby Rush is amazing, but this is bullshit. 12-2pm on Thursdays?

Bobby Rush likes the big booties.Put em on display at Lincoln Center all night long.. it was a bit much, took away from the music.

The Ohio Players. brings back so many good memories. I still have the albums. I will be right there. front and center. June 19th 2014 at 12 o'clock. at lunch time. see you there.
