Bruce @ Hersheypark Stadium - 5/14/14

The moon was full, but you couldn't see it. The cloud cover took care of that. Hershey was the last outdoor concert of the tour (as far as we know, anyway), and the temperature was perfect. It was Bruce weather. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and took the Hersheypark Stadium stage with rocket fuel in their jet packs, beginning with "Clampdown" into "Badlands." With thousands of fists pumping into the evening air, no matter how long it had been since you'd seen a show, you were immediately back in the arms of Bruce. (If this was your first show, I can't even imagine what must have been swirling in your brain.) "Wrecking Ball" was followed by the beloved "Hungry Heart." We all "had a wife and kids in Baltimore Jack" and per protocol we were quite happy to let Bruce know.

Next came the night's first sign request: "Candy's Room." Candy, Hershey... if anyone in the crowd made that connection, it was surely an afterthought for most, thanks to the immediacy of a blistering performance. Bruce always nails this song, but there seemed to be something extra special about his guitar work tonight. [-Jeannette Amodeo for Backstreets.com, via BruceSpringsteen.net]

Bruce Springsteen is currently on the road supporting his 18th album, 2014's High Hopes. His current tour doesn't include any NYC stops, but we did just head to Pennsylvania to catch him at Hersheypark Stadium last night (5/14). Last night's show included a couple off the new album, but like most Springsteen shows, it was loaded with career-spanning faves like "Thunder Road," "Dancing in the Dark," "Badlands," "Hungry Heart" and plenty more. He was joined on stage by Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello for "The Ghost of Tom Joad," one of the many tracks Tom contributed to on Bruce's new album. Pictures from the show and the full setlist are in this post.

The Boss will also be not far from NYC this weekend at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday (5/17) and Sunday (5/18). Both of those shows are sold out.

25+ local shows in Brooklyn last night and this nostalgic act gets a post on this site? Pretty sad. I can't believe they use their budget to send someone to Hershey.

TIM! Are we not cool anymore? C'est qu'cest? You know I have the dankest stuff out in SA! Why are you trying to be like that? I thought we were going to win a championship this year....

4:11 Absolutly right! Who would even look at another endless batch of bruce pictures, and from Hicksville PA, of all places?
Your only mistake, there's really a little budget involved here. The person who takes these pictures is not really getting paid much... Maybe it just that there're better drugs over there in the sticks.

Early bird special anyone?

^ Yep we'll ass rape you despite your room temperature IQ. Better kick your keys to a red state.

I'm a liberal and I don't much care for "The Boss" or Angry Trust Funders,... er, Rage Against the Machine, but I HATE those one or two annoying right wingers that post on BV. Mainly one dude I think. I've always assumed he lives at home in NJ.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2014 2:04 AM

^ LOL yes there are only one or two people that post here that disagree with you politically. Pass the tin foil please, my helmet has a breach. Just relax, sweetheart.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2014 5:39 AM

There's one in particular who uses the same phrases over and over (i.e. "cross-eyed lefty", "drink Kool-Aid", "sheeple") and uses the same talking points that sound regurgitated directly from something he/she heard on Hannity or Levin.. Oh wait.. that's every right winger.

Springsteen started touring in 66 with various bands. He is still crancking out albums and tours. He plays 3 and a half hours a show and doesn't charge insane prices like his contemporaries while having a 12 piece band. Props!

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2014 8:23 AM

^ Bruce only plays 3 hours on this tour.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2014 9:54 AM

^then I take back what I say lol

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2014 10:50 AM

Band sounds like crap nowadays. Too big, too loose, everything sounds the same. Three hours is an hour and a half too long.

If I was a liberal I would be so ashamed of what i've contributed to ruining my fellow citizens' standard of living and sterling their freedoms that I would kill myself. But then again, if I was a liberal I would be constitutionally incapable of accepting responsibility for my actions, like a 5 year old.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2014 10:22 PM

See^? It's one very hateful, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, etc., dude who loves regurgitating what he heard on Fox News in his bedroom at his parents' house in northern NJ, that posts over and over here.

I enjoy the free forum of BV, and making fun of crappy bands, but I don't like you Jersey Teabagger!
