Bachman

But while [Daniel] Bachman plays well with others on Sinner, his solo playing is where his growth is best observed. By adding space between notes, he allows his songs to breathe and develop subtleties. Where Bachman's fever-pitch playing sometimes precluded imagery on Seven Pines, Sinner's relative calm imbues its songs with striking imagery and emotion. "Sarah Anne" is autumnal and romantic. "Honeysuckle Reel" evokes humid springtime drives on country roads. "Blenheim" features some excellent tonal shifts, as if flitting about between conversations at a casual gathering. "Leaving Istanbul," with its taut raga and minor-key melody, is the frustrated counterpart to the meditative, twilit calm of "Under the Shade of Trees." [Dusted Magazine]
American Primitivism guitarist Daniel Bachman released his most recent album Jesus I'm a Sinner last year (which the above review is of) and he begins another tour in support of it in Arlington tonight (5/30). That tour comes to NYC on Sunday (6/1) at Union Pool for a show with Ancient Ocean. Tickets for Sunday's show are on sale now. All dates are listed below.

Ancient Ocean (aka John Bohannon) is about to release a new cassette EP on Fire Talk Records on June 24. He recently put out the ambient "A Finite Life" from that EP, which you can stream (via AdHoc) below.
