"Ghost just leveled Best Buy Theater. Best set I've seen them play yet" - Michel

Ghost

The best part, really, was that Papa Emeritus wasn't the only thing to watch on stage. The rest of the band has a ton of energy and synergy that made it amazing to behold.

Biggest surprises? To my left, there was a woman in front of me playing Candy Crush Saga on her phone the entire show.

To my right, there was a guy holding his ~6 year old son, who was just rocking out the whole time. [Reddit user ggabriele3]

The costumed Satanic Swedes known as Ghost (or Ghost B.C.) wrapped up their North American tour in NYC with a show at Best Buy Theater on Saturday (5/17). Their 17-song set included most of both albums, plus covers of The Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" and Roky Erickson's "If You Have Ghosts." Opening for Ghost on this tour was noir-country crooner King Dude, who put out his new album Fear earlier this month. It sounded like an interesting pairing, but as the Reddit user quoted above points out, the crowd didn't treat him very well (and other users agreed in the comments):
The only real disappointment was how the crowd treated the opener - King Dude. Granted the guy has a very different sound (think post-apocalyptic Americana; like Fallout New Vegas), and I feel like the guy really hasn't perfected his sound yet....but the guys yelling "you suck" should have been thrown out.
Another person tweeted "Really saddened to hear about King Dude being booed during his support slots for Ghost's US tour."

Pictures of both Ghost and King Dude are in this post and on Facebook. More, with Ghost's setlist, below...

I was coming in to complain about bands not googling before taking a bands name. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is lame.

Metal ghost= garbage + poop
Psych ghost= boring

Posted by E.L. Fudge | May 19, 2014 11:46 AM

Does this character sing or just walk around waving to the crowd?

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 12:54 PM

Band fucking sucks. without the gimmick no one would give a fuck about them.

Posted by anonHUMMUS | May 19, 2014 1:08 PM

They sounded great

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 1:13 PM

Ghost is one of the best bands out there on the music seen today. The singers voice is amazing and the music is awesome. Give them a listen before you trash them. You'll be glad you did.

People were saying boo-urns/

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 2:17 PM

"Best Buy Theatre". God, fuck off

Posted by PC Richard | May 19, 2014 2:19 PM

I've heard King Dude but never actually seen what he looks like. I'm going to guess the people booing him were gross-looking greaseballs who listen to bad metal. He on the other hand probably gets it whenever he wants.

maybe they will take off the makeup, like KISS, when they make it big

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 2:50 PM

so, tying a flannel around one's waist is being fashioned in earnest these days?

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 2:53 PM

A) None of you listen to the Japanese band. So, be easy.

B) They did, or just about sold out a 2,000+ capacity venue, you didn't.

C) If you don't care, why you niggas trollin??

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 6:16 PM

^Let me reply to the first 2 of your stupid ass comments

A)Myself and many others reading here listen to the Japanese band Ghost and have for years

B)They did not sell this out and Best Buy Theater is not even close to 2000+ capacity

Now go fuck off

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 6:37 PM

They're showmen but I don't believe in ghouls or city boyz. I used to

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | May 19, 2014 6:58 PM

so god damn lame. cos play gimmick ass bull shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 7:20 PM

6:37, ya dumb fuck, Best Buy is 2,000/+ capacity. The venue is big step up for these clowns. They played a venue a quarter of this size last time they headlined in NYC.

Shocked the Veganites don't love these fuckers. They're an awesome gimmick and a hipster's delight. True metal fans even hate them.

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 8:26 PM

^You are wrong. It is not that size capacity you dumb fuck

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 8:53 PM

Lot of assholes here. Ghosts fuck that!

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 9:13 PM

Wait, the writer think yelling "you suck" at a band gives someone the right to throw you out. What is this, Nazi Germany?

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 10:29 PM

@8:53. Yeah, it is!

"Best Buy Theater is a 2100-capacity venue operated by AEG LIVE and designed by the award-winning architect David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group."

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2014 11:41 PM

Merciful Fate did/does this best.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2014 7:47 AM

The difference between Ghost and Merciful Fate is that I don't give a shit about King Diamond and how he pranced around singing falsetto 80 years ago. With personal opinions aside, it's incredibly idiotic to state that becuase a band gad a gimmick years ago a new band can't do something similar now. Besides, King Diamond, like I said, pranced around and most likley took himself seriously like most. Fuck being "trve" or listening to "Real" metal, HOLY SHIT YOU CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE FAVORITE BAND. The metal world is full of hypocrites destroying what made metal an awesome community of accepting the unacceptable.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2014 9:04 AM

I've seen Ghost B.C. (happy I included the B.C.?) twice and gotta say I dig the show. As for true metal fans hating them, the crowds I've seen belie that assertion.

I don't crank up their tunes all that often, but as a really tight live band with a heavy theatrical element (which is a little bit tongue-in-cheek, I think) I'm certainly not bored.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2014 10:02 AM

Working with Dave Grohl pretty much cemented their status as clown shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2014 10:11 AM

Ghost is good.

Ghost B.C. (Bratwurst Counterfeit)

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2014 12:35 PM

Absolutely yelling shit at a band|performer in a venue will get you kicked out (if they're not asking/encouraging it).
It's similar to a comedy show, the 'show' is on the stage, yelling stupid shit (whatever it may be) will get negative attention from the crowd and if you don't shut your face-hole you'll end up out on the sidewalk, likely pissing and moaning about getting kicked out.

That said, Ghost does not pick good openers for their tours from what I can tell, last time I saw them some band that had a tempo so slow it was torturous... (I can't comment on "King Dude" as I've never listened).

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2014 3:13 PM

Really surprised King Dude's new single didn't go over well considering it's True Blood-core

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2014 12:38 AM

Ghost is an amazing band regardless of the gimmick. Haters gon' hate.

And it's Mercyful Fate, not 'Merciful Fate', you idiots.
