UPDATE: BrooklynVegan Presale Password HERE.

Guided By Voices in Austin, 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
GBV

Guided by Voices start their tour this weekend and will hit NYC for a sold-out show at Bowery Ballroom on May 23. That tour wraps up in June but, as Robert Pollard inferred in our interview with him, GBV will be back in the NY area for three four shows after that: NYC's Irving Plaza on July 11, then Huntington, NY's The Paramount on August 22 and Asbury Park, NJ's The Stone Pony on August 23.

UPDATE: they're also playing Toad's Place in CT on 7/10.

Your first chance to get tickets to those three shows (not CT) will be with an exclusive BrooklynVegan presale beginning Thursday morning (5/15) at 9 AM. Check back first thing Thursday morning for the presale password.

UPDATE: BrooklynVegan Presale Password HERE.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (5/16) at noon.

I have never gotten the whole BV Guided By Voices are hippies joke. What, because they're old?

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2014 1:09 PM

It doesn't get more classic than GBV at Irving!

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2014 1:14 PM

been meaning to check out the Paramount so I could walk the fuck out... but I'd stay for this

Missing the 7/10 show at Toad's Place in New Haven

Posted by sachyn | May 14, 2014 1:57 PM

I wonder what medicine they are taking to control their bladders during those +1 hr performances. I'm 68 years old too, and I can't make it through Family Guy without running to the toilet

Pollard is too rockin' to be a grandpa, schmuck! Rock Like Pollard! http://actionjets.bandcamp.com/track/rock-like-pollard

No, YOU inferred (as the receiver of the message) that GBV will be back in the NY area. I infer from this that you didn't realize the meaning of the word. You're welcome. That said- GBV! GBV! GBV!

Posted by arcadestooge | May 14, 2014 2:45 PM

These new albums are so bad that they are ruining the legacy of their classic stuff. Please make them stop.

I was listening to Cool Planet, while watching Cool World, with a cool bud. Awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2014 3:14 PM

Posted by manic | May 14, 2014 4:01 PM

Do they still play mostly songs from their classic period at these shows?

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2014 4:10 PM

^^ it's gonna be heavy on the latest 2 which is great, because those tracks bring the rock big time

yes, they will still play the classics too

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2014 4:27 PM

NY is a lucky area! how many GBV shows have there been in and around NYC since the last one in London in 2003?!

Posted by strident net nurse | May 14, 2014 4:47 PM

^ including Bob solo shows approx. 14

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2014 5:36 PM

Bob actually has been a grandfather since '06 or '07. A grandfather that can kick higher, drink more and write better songs than any twentysomething twerp blowing a thousand bucks a month of Daddy's money to live in a shitbox in Bushwick.
The Dead are dead. GBV is forever.

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2014 2:51 AM

^lol. I've actually been to Dayton. Let me tell you; it's some depressing ass shit. A Bushwick 3 is a Dayton 10. And Jerry could play circles around these clowns.

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2014 7:30 AM

So what's the code?

Posted by Mike G | May 15, 2014 8:29 AM

" Check back first thing Thursday morning for the presale password " Please?

Posted by Someone | May 15, 2014 8:37 AM

The code is: 'poormansdead'

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2014 8:48 AM

A Dayton 10 is probably 1/10th the price of a Bushwick 3 and Jerry can't play shit around shit because he's dead.

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2014 8:51 AM

Bee Thousand really is not a good album. Isolation Drills was better. There I said it

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2014 8:54 AM

The Dead learnt everything they could remember off Bob and GBV.

Posted by Instant Prince Whippett | May 15, 2014 9:00 AM
