High Dive
High Dive

High Dive, the queer-positive band from Bloomington, Indiana, make what you would probably call pop punk but more in the raw, scrappy sense of a band like The Thermals than "Defend Pop Punk" or any of the massive radio bands of the '90s/'00s. They bring in sax, trumpet, and a Fender Rhodes, and singer Toby Foster has an anti-folk/folk punk quality to his nasally voice. They're currently on a US tour with Macedonian dance-punks Bernays Propaganda (who sing in their native language) and the many-membered folk pop collective Nana Grizol which has likely been making for some very varied yet very interesting bills.

The tour hits NYC TONIGHT (5/19) at Death by Audio for a bill that also throws Mikey Erg, one of punk's busiest musicians, into the mix. Tonight's show is $7 at the door.

The tour wraps up in Philly tomorrow. All remaining dates are listed, with streams from all bands, below...

Haha, is Man Overboard now regarded as Defend Pop Punk?

Bernays Propaganda is really good. Way too good to tour with this nasally lispy shitty twee band.

Yup, pretty much exactly what I pictured when I read the words queer and Indiana.
