Long Beach, CA's Highlands name Slowdive and Ride as influences, and they've shared stages with A Place to Bury Strangers, Dead Meadow, Ringo Deathstarr and others, so you can probably get an idea of what you're in for. Shoegaze indebted to the genre's early days, and fans of this stuff will likely find Highlands do it well. They're releasing their second album, Dark Matter Traveler, on July 15 via their own Say Again Records. You can get a taste of it from the new single, "Beauty," which premieres in this post.
