La Sera @ Baby's All Right 5/10/2014
La Sera

Is the real reason you moved that Los Angeles seems vibrant and alive and full of possibility and not closed off to young people and decaying, like New York?

That's not true! I wouldn't be able to make music and put out records if it weren't for New York. That's where everything happened for me. It's just easier to live day-to-day in LA, I think. It depends on your lifestyle, but in general, my life here is way cheaper and more relaxed. And it's just, like, nicer out. I don't have to worry about how to get places. It's just a nicer, in general, way to live. New York has its own energy, which is kind of an insane energy, with crazy people all going apeshit all the time. Which is very productive.
Crazy people going apeshit all the time?
People who have a lot more energy than I do. And you need that to be successful. To be successful in New York, you need to have that drive.

LA seems like it really suits you.

From the very first time the Vivian Girls came to LA on tour, six years ago, I was like, oh. I'm gonna live here. This rules. It was like an instant love. - [Village Voice]

Newly free of Vivian Girls duties and relocated to Los Angeles, Katy Goodman and her now main band La Sera returned to her old stomping grounds of Brooklyn to play Baby's All Right on Saturday (5/10). The date was a one-off record release show for La Sera's sophomore LP, Hour of the Dawn, which is out this week. You can currently stream the LP on Pitchfork.

While I'm digging the strawberry blonde KK is rockin' these day, friend, I must say the thigh-highs that the singer from High Waisted is rockin' impress me far more.

I like the hair and the color. This is the rockiest night ever and that was a great jam.

Because.. boobs.

7:55 - I'm sure she does. I'm sure it's a big ego boost for her to know that so many dudes lust for her boobies.

Friends! Don't you think the legs are looking a little on the thick side? Maybe she eats well with the LA lifestyle. Huh. Go figures. The strawberry locks 'n' bangz are so so so lustable though.

KBK and Grzymkowski commented in an old VG post back in the day. Suffice to say they were not fans of the BV comment section.

Still, she should put out a PSA against bad tattoos, right 4lyfe?

People that can't handle NYC are just simply not that cool.
People going "apeshit" is far better then the new-agey "chill" vibe of the west coast. (Just typing that makes me want to throw up in my mouth)

She has a good point -- nyc is for suckers. It's a city full of overeager strivers and posers. West coast, best coast.

high waisted's thigh highs are so sexy

Crazy this thing gets coverage. No one gave a damn about the Vivian Whores the last few years. Now that they have broken up, they are a hot commodity.

Vivian Girls were amazing. I really wanted another LP. La Sera isn't bad, but doesn't have that same energy. The zeitgeist certainly passed Vivian Girls by, but how long was primitive lo-fi punk going to be trendy in yuppie Brooklyn? 2007 was a lifetime ago, and this stuff just doesn't fly in the world of tattooed condo-dwellers.

@9:06 what's the point :/ we're sitting here living in a blog called Brooklyn Vegan two of the most ridiculous trends of the last 20 years, come join me over at Silver Lake Paleo and we can chat about the dum dum g's d's.

The power of guitars (even bass). She's ok looking. She's right on the edge of being a chubby girl actually. Throw on the bass guitar and she looks hot. Works with men too I think.

How does it feel to be loved?

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2014 9:10 AM

@ 8:59 You're (presumably) in New York. If you don't think thick legs are hot, why are you still here? Move out to L.A.

KBK's boyfriend playing guitar in the Chicago Bears football jersey looks like quite the douche.

Post city boyz can't pick up tail in the east or west so I ask, "what's all this fussyness?"

Lil'Jersey Tart never even lived in Brooklyn, VGs was OK with original lineup kind of a fluke really. Thighs are great not for the faint of heart.
