Michael Alig

"Eighteen years on, looking back at the person I was at that time, I feel nothing but shame and disgust. I was a selfish junkie who killed another human being. But that's not the Michael Alig I am today or the Michael Alig I was before I became an addict -- the misfit from the Midwest who came to New York City in search of acceptance, opportunity and a whole lot of fun...

....

...One of them was Angel Melendez, a 25-year-old Club Kid who lived in Queens but sometimes stayed over at my apartment with the others on weekends in Manhattan. He was a good guy, but we looked down on him because he was part of the Webster Hall crowd, whom we considered second-rate."

The whole story is in the NY Post.

Michael was released from jail last week.

I still can't get over how this was a manslaughter charge and not a murder charge.

just stooooop

Webster Hall...second rate, lol

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2014 2:45 PM

It was a plea bargain, which is why it ended up as manslaughter. I don't know enough about the totality of the evidence to guess why the DA offered a lesser plea deal.

^Because you morons, if you read what he wrote and actually looked back at the information that came out, the killing was during a fight that Angel was part of and actually instigated. A drugged up fight that got out of hand. Freeze hit Angel with the wooden part of a hammer knocking him out at which point Alig repeatedly punched him killing him. Which is why Alig went to jail longer than Freeze

It was not premeditated murder so that is why it was reduced to manslaughter.

@ 2:45

Supposedly because Angel knocked Alig into glass cabinet and was biting him. That's why he got clocked with the hammer. The drano bath and dismemberment was after he was dead- if any of this is to be believed.

You don't know the definition of intentional murder in NY state. It doesn't require "premeditation", just an intent to kill.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2014 2:55 PM

Why is everybody so up in arms about this ugly chick!? She's not even hot!! Who cares.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2014 2:57 PM

It's all druggy fun and games until a city boy gets dismembered.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2014 2:59 PM

There is also "depraved indifference" murder, into which this case certainly fits.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2014 3:00 PM

it's not cheap to try someone for murder and expensive to lock them up. they often appeal, etc. if you can't prove that it wasn't just a bunch of junkies in a fight, if there is a possibility that there was some self defense... etc...

throwing the book at someone, so to speak, in its entirety costs society a ton. locking someone up long enough that they are "punished" and hopefully won't repeat, without having to complete a trial and appeals or incarcerate them forever, is a great deal for all involved.

His butt hole is beyond repair. He walks around with a giant butt plug jammed up his ass. The butt plug is made from so much silicone it is often referred to as the " Barry Manilow Deluxe".

Will The Post and BV give equally free publicity to other repentant murderers?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2014 5:34 PM

^ The Post probably paid Alig for the exclusive interview.
