Owen Pallett @ Bowery Ballroom 5/14/2014
Owen Pallett's tour with Doldrums hit NYC this week for two shows. Following Tuesday's at Glasslands (5/13), the played Bowery Ballroom last night (5/14). The Academy Award nominee played good portion of his new album, In Conflict, as well as selections from Heartland, and a few songs from his Final Fantasy days as well (the latter were mostly midset when he did a few solo songs). For his second encore he gave the crowd a couple covers: Tori Amos' "Pretty Good Year" (he reviewed her new album for The Talkhouse), and Joanna Newsom's "Peach Plum Pear." Pictures, setlist and video of "Peach Plum Pear" from Bowery Ballroom are in this post.
As mentioned, Airick Woodhead augmented the live line-up of Doldrums for this tour with his brother Daniel and Maddie Wilde of Moon King and were a solid start to the evening. You can catch Doldrums and Moon King -- on the same bill together for the first time ever -- at Baby's All Right on June 5. Tickets are on sale now.
