Joanna Gruesome @ BVCMJ 2014 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Joanna Gruesome

The Seaport Music Festival is back for its 13th season though, like 4Knots, somewhat reimagined. With the Pier 17 being redeveloped, the stage will now be on Fulton St. at Water St. with the stage facing East (meaning the audience will be on Fulton from Water down to South St.). We're told the stage is slightly smaller than the one at River Rocks.

More importantly, the Seaport Music Festival is back up to a robust eight Friday evenings from July 11 - August 29. Like the stage, the acts are a little smaller this year. The initial lineup:

Friday, July 11 Protomartyr, Alvvays
Friday, July 18 Calvin Love, Las Rosas
Friday, July 25 Torres, TBA
Friday, August 1 Snowmine, The Casket Girls
Friday, August 8 Black Bananas, Shockwave Riderz
Friday, August 15 Boogarins, Jacco Gardner
Friday, August 22 Dead Gaze, TBA
Friday, August 29 Joanna Gruesome, Big Ups
As always Seaport Music Festival shows are free and open to the public.

YAY!!!!!!! :-D Don't know a lot of these bands, but don't even care. Free music schedule for the summer has been so disappointing thus far, and River to River has virtually disappeared.

Remember when the seaport actually booked bands people cared about? None of these bands could even sell the Cake Shop.

Torres and Joanna Gruesome could most certainly sell the Cake Shop.

remember in 2007 when they got Animal Collective, Menomena, Battles, & The National to play these shows. How the mighty have fallen.

Boogarins are very good. Saw their free show at Other Music. Some good stuff from those kids.

^^all those bands are terrible

Part of what made it great was the surroundings near the water and boats. This sounds like it is off the street.

Seaport once had The xx as an opener, with like 12 people in the audience, which is exactly where The xx should have peaked.

This is what a lineup looks like if you have no budget.

Is this the last of the multi-week fests (that we've been expecting) to announce?

I guess House Of Vans might have some shows? Anything else?

Remember when they had shows in East River State Park? They should bring those back.
