DOWNLOAD: The Austerity Program - Song 30 (MP3)

The Austerity Program at The Charleston in 2011 (more by Markus Shaffer)
Austerity Program

NYC duo The Austerity Program's last full length was 2007's Black Madonna (followed by the 2010 EP, Backsliders and Apostates Will Burn), both of which came out on the now-defunct Hydra Head Records. Following that label's demise, the band have started their own label, Controlled Burn Records, and will finally release a new LP, Beyond Calculation, on June 17. The record's first single, "Song 30," pretty much picks up where Backsliders and Apostates Will Burn left off, with the band's noise rock/post-hardcore blend sounding as crushing as ever. If you're unfamiliar, their bass-heavy, drum machine-backed sound likely has some Big Black influence, and any fans of Jesus Lizard, My War, or Pissed Jeans should dig this too. The track makes its premiere in this post and can be downloaded above or streamed below.

The band will celebrate the new record with a release show in their hometown on June 4 at Saint Vitus with Mockingbird, Force and Fire and Scowl. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Flyer for the Vitus show, with the new song stream, album art and tracklist, below...

In cargo shorts and t-shirts
We think we look real hard
But how much can you dress up
A long haired tub of lard?
Oh, I don't want no more of sausage life
Gee Ma, I wanna go home!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2014 3:39 PM

^27 is the cut off

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2014 3:47 PM

^27? no way. for this sort of angsty emo, i'd put the age cap at 21. If you're old enough to go to a bar, you're to old for this.

BV Commenters, I am disappointed. It used to be that anon commenters were funny when they insulted us.

i got one i got one!

austerity program lieks to drink their own pee!

aaand their old!

yay

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2014 8:45 PM

what justin fails to understand is that no one knows who his band is, and there aren't enough pictures to give you the ridicule you surely deserve. i'd guess that at some point in your life someone told you there was a kind of nobility to perseverance. they were lying to you. you just the old chick at the club.

I am commenting on BV. Everyone will see this. Nobody will know who I am. Old people suck. Young people rule. If there is any question whether someone is old, they are old, and suck. Wisdom.
