Iceage at Bowery Ballroom in 2013 (more by Fred Pessaro)
Iceage

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...

Iceage, Anasazi @ Home Sweet Home
It's the second of two Iceage shows and tonight's is the more intimate one. NYC goth punks Anasazi open and if you like Iceage there's no reason you should miss this band.

Grand Resort, Gold Lake, Lazyeyes, Andrew Keoghan @ Baby's All Right
Synth-heavy indiepop band Grand Resort wear their jangly influences on their sleeves (C-86 / Sarah Records) but win out with enthusiasm and an ear for infectious melody. They headline this line of similarly tuneful locals.

Nap, Borts Minorts @ Cake Shop
Borts Minorts' shows involve unitards, a stringed instrument made out of a ski, effected vocals, choreography, and general weirdness. The Residents as aerobics instructors? Maybe.

Honduras, Elliot and The Ghost, The Montauk Project, Glass Curtains @ Mercury Lounge
Honduras bring a lot of different influences to the table. A little garage, yes, but there's '80s/'90s British indie too. While it may not be anything you haven't exactly heard before, Honduras write very hooky songs and, as importantly, the bring a real energy to the performance.

Ava Luna, Space Beach, Pile, Grass Is Green, Washer @ Shea Stadium
NYC funk-punks Ava Luna team up with two quality post-hardcore-leaning Massachusetts bands, Pile and Grass Is Green, and more tonight for what should be a pretty fun show.

Endless Boogie, Watery Love, Mordecai @ Union Pool
Endless Boogie are one of the more perfectly named bands in Brooklyn. When they find a groove they go long. Perhaps just as interesting on this bill are Philly band Watery Love who do the scuzz-punk thing very well.

Comedy Night with Hannibal Buress @ Knitting Factory
Big league comedy talent (Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc) show up regularly (and unannounced) for Hannibal's very popular free comedy show at Knitting Factory's front bar. Having had his own Comedy Central special and a featured performer on Broad City, Hannibal himself is getting pretty big league. Get there early.

Electric Daisy Carnival @ MetLife Stadium
EDC may not be our favorite NYC-area music festival but there's some stuff worth catching today like Rudimental (live), AraabMuzik, Skream, MK and more.

Tale of Us, Chymera @ Output
And like the rest of the weekend, there's an EDC afterparty at Output. Tonight's brings together Berlin duo Tale of Us with Ireland's Chymera.

We hope you're enjoying Memorial Day Weekend. We made a guide of some of the extended holiday goings-on.

For all of tonight's shows, and tomorrow's, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.

Completely new set from iceage last night at glasslands. New stuff sounded very good so if you're on the fence about seein them go.

"My dad bought me a one-bedroom condo at the Edge. All I have to pay for is the maintenance fees. But even that part is a lot. New York is such bullshit." Overheard last night at Baby's All Right.

Lemons in me ass

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 10:45 AM

10:21 No, you didn't hear that. You just think bitching about shit like that gives you some kind of Bushwickoiesie cred.

"Completely new set from iceage last night at glasslands. New stuff sounded very good so if you're on the fence about seein them go."

No one is on the fence about seeing them judging from what i heard was an incredibly undersold glasslands. The only people who still care are a few remaining idiots like yourself.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 11:56 AM

Show was sold out last night.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 12:29 PM

Yeah that iceage show was sold out and full bro dunno what you're pissed about but maybe ya should go mosh at an iceage show and work that angst out

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 12:47 PM

^No way!! You can't be serious. Unreal. Iceage was able to fill a huge giant venue like Glasslands at the last minute. Oh man that is incredible. The music business is spinning on its top. Obviously the masses are clamoring for more Iceage. That must have been the hottest ticket in town to fill that massive space the night of the show.

Whoa

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 1:45 PM

12:29/12:47 need to cut the crap

Iceage could not give those tickets away last night in advance. So big deal, they had a bunch of walk up hipsters who found nothing better to do last night, a weak music night on a holiday weekend, and went at the last minute to see this last gasp of a dying band

If this was at a bigger venue like say the last time they played, Bowery Ballroom, show would have been half sold

Just quit the bullshit. Iceage is done.

Proof as of yesterday at noon. Still trying to push ticket sales Glasslands twitter:

Tonight at 8:00pm: Iceage, Uniform, Planning For Burial http://ticketf.ly/O8Eve9

I could give a flying fuck about Iceage the band or the individual people in the band. They make shitty music, that's their right. My animosity is directed at the morons like Brandon Stosuy of Pitchfork who is in the position to give their album an 8.6 and "Best New Music" which influences people who still take Pitchfork seriously to actually take this music seriously. If Stosuy and his ilk had the least fucking clue about how to evaluate quality music then rubbish like Iceage wouldn't clutter the "airwaves" at the expense of worthy bands. Yeah sure, eventually people wise up and Iceage can't fill a hole in the wall like Glasslands but for the better part of a year people drank the kook aid on this rubbish.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 4:59 PM

Typo on kool aid, but kook actually fits too.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 5:02 PM

Yah!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 5:22 PM

put 'em on ice

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 9:42 PM

Brandon is cool and is a good writer. He just misfired on Iceage. We all make mistakes.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 10:24 PM

I laugh my ass off at all the butthurt hate toward bands that are making it by shlemozzles whose own band sucks balls and no one has ever heard of. That's right internet tough guy, I'm talking to you. You know what's the difference between Iceage and your shitty band? They actually get booked, and people are coming to see them that are not named Mommy or Daddy or work with them tempting in Long Island City. But keep posting how these bands suck, because I need another laugh. Go ahead, entertain me now.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 11:04 PM

I wrote 4:59 and I'm not in a band or even a musician for that matter. If you could read, 11:04 you'd see that my rant was directed at the shit writers who peddle rubbish like Iceage to lemmings who don't know better. And then it takes a few tour cycles for the realization to hit people that the band actually sucks. Unfortunately for Iceage, their time is up now. For crap like Perfect Pussy, I'll be writing the same rant about 9 months from now.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 11:11 PM

^ what makes you think he was writing to you? seems like you are a little to eager to take offence. maybe everything's not about you? maybe?

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 11:43 PM

Did you ever stick a Fisherman's Friend cough drop up your ass? Word of advice - don't do it. It burns like a m.f.er

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2014 11:53 PM

Iceage were amazing again tonight.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 2:33 AM

"if you like Iceage there's no reason you should miss this band"

But my band sucks and no one will come out to see us, that's why Iceage sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 10:19 AM

To compare Borts Minorts to The Residents is an absolute insult.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 10:22 AM

I love when Brooklyn Vegan puts disclaimers in their postings to uphold their indie street cred:
"EDC may not be our favorite NYC-area music festival but...."
Get over yourselves. And yet, it's somehow cool to like HAIM, Sky Fererira, etc.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 12:16 PM

^Drop Dead

EDC sucks and so does Iceage

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 12:34 PM

I saw iceage last night and they were fucking terrible. Anasazi were fucking awesome though, they are a way better band. iceage were sloppy as usual, but the singer is just the worst, just a prettyboy who cant sing or come remotely close to sounding like he does on the record it almost makes me think that someone else is singing on the records and they got some male model tumblrbait to sing as bad as possible live

I'd want my $12 back if Anasazi didn't steal the show so bad.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 3:16 PM

because I only like bands that sound exactly like they do on the record. that way I know exactly what to expect. I don't like surprises, and expect my favorite bands to perform like machines. hey, I'm paying good money, I expect a quality product.

Posted by 3:16 | May 26, 2014 3:31 PM

awww someones wil bb crush got his feelings hwurt because a prettyboy dane cant sing

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 6:14 PM

12:34, I'm not defending EDM, you nitwit. I'm commenting on how BV always posts disclaimers, because they don't want to admit liking a certain type of music for fear of losing indie cred.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2014 7:25 PM

Iceage were very good at Glasslands. Seems like all the Internet hype died down & people who wanna go see them go. I don't see anything wrong with playing to 400 people in NYC, not sure how that's a bands last dying breath?
