Wye Oak / Braids @ Webster Hall - 5/7/14

Wye Oak and Braids brought their tour to NYC last night (5/7) for a show at Webster Hall. Braids opened, and played what sounded like a lot of new stuff. Then came Wye Oak, who split their set pretty evenly between this year's guitar-less Shriek and its predecessor Civilian, plus included a cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" in the encore, which has been a regular occurrence on this tour. Pictures of both bands from the Webster Hall show are in this post.

Still not liking the new songs.

Agreed. Even live, the older, guitar-based material clearly trumped the new songs.

Braids was amazing.

I thought the show was great, new songs and old. Also Jenn's a hottie.

I like Wye Oak's new songs, but I like synths and bass. They're not as immediately forceful as songs such as "For Prayer" (although "Glory" is pretty great) but they're still good songs. I thought they did a great job of intermixing old and new material last night.

I also really enjoyed Braids' set. This was a great show.

Oh my god, just GET ANOTHER MEMBER. You cant play drums and keyboards at the same time. You can afford it.

New songs didn't fill the room. I think it's time to hire a couple more people.

Braids was awesome.
