Bold at Rev25, 2012 (more by Rebecca Reed)
Bold

In addition to playing Philadelphia's This is Hardcore 2014 with 'all of the bands' (a scientific measurement), classic youth crew hardcore group Bold have scheduled a set at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus on July 24 with Give and other openers to be announced (tickets). The lineup consists of Bold's 1989 incarnation, featuring Matt Warnke (vocals), Tim Brooks (bass), Porcell (guitar), Tom Capone (guitar), and Drew Thomas (drums). Join with them, they have a plan.

In related news, Revelation Records reissued the compilation New York City Hardcore: The Way It Is. The 1988 collection documented NYHC at a crucial moment, rounding up the likes of Bold, Gorilla Biscuits, Breakdown, Youth of Today, Sick of it All, and others. The repress can be had on CD or gold vinyl and is available Tuesday (6/17).

Gorilla Biscuits also play a free House of Vans show in July with Bouncing Souls. RSVP for that is closed.

Streams of the compilation along with a Bold live video below...

Who keeps on booking bold?

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 12:49 PM

CRUCIAL HARDCORE

how many lolz will be had at that bold show? 150 ex straight edge kids in their 40s.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 12:58 PM

The 'Talk is Cheap' version on that comp is hard as fuck. Crazy to think Matt was like 15 years old...

I used to love drinking 40's in HS to Bold.

"Hear me out!"

Yo, you'll be lucky to get 50 kids to watch bold, that band should of broke up 24 years ago

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 1:05 PM

If Bold's original fans show up and do the taint-dance with kids, does that constitute statutory rape?

Posted by xTAINTx | June 16, 2014 1:12 PM

Bold and Judge, which one is more mediocre?

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 1:48 PM

^ judge. no question.

When you're on your way to a post city show, where's the bet place to get cupcakez?

Bold stinks. Give rules. That's the only contribution I have to make on this post.

12:48pm Hardly. Fu ck Bold. Bunch of fortysomethings playing sh it they wrote in 1985-89 WACK. Move on, do sometihng new, or how 'bout PUT OUT something new? Motherfuckers been back on and off since 2005 and haven't released ONE new song.

21+ is weak as sh it, fu ck that and this venue. Youth Crew? Really? And they can blow me with their $15 advance $20 day of show. Enjoy playing to 73 paid people fellas. 3 to 5 more bands ok, but a band or two more? No dice.

5:07pm Youth Crew is the official/unofficial nickname of all the straightedge bands who released records on Revelation and Schism Records (Youth Of Today, Bold, Gorilla Biscuits, and Side By Side for the Rev bands, Project X and Crippled Youth for the Schism bands, Judge who put out records on both labels.) ALL sold out the edge by 1989-90.

Give > Bold

Correction Crippled Youth were on New Beginning Records not Schism but were part of the Youth Crew. The only one not on Rev or Schism.

See Matt Warnke sing Nailed To The X and Clear when he broke edge literally a quarter of a century ago (fakeass.)

BTW how many fuckin' times can/will Rev reissue The Way It Is? At least reissue it with some extra studio and/or live tracks as there had to be an outtake or two for it. Ripoff. Rev milking it for all it's worth.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 12:13 AM

Sub Zero added to the Breakdown show. Too bad it's not 1989-92 when they were good. Hang it up fellas, you and Breakdown.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 12:18 AM

These 1980s NYHC bands need to take a fucking hike because they don't even play to kids anymore, besides that it's almost halfway into 2014 and all these bands are made up of fortysomethings. Do something new or move on, step aside, and make way for the kids.

SMMFH @ Jeff Perlin singing about how he's fooled, abused, cheated, betrayed, and gonna go on a rampage cuz he's sick of shit thrown in his face he's gonna fight KICKBACK! Shit was written 28 years ago and you're 45 years old or older today. IT'S OVER.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 12:29 AM

Playing 21+ shows is wack when you were under 21 once. What if the CBGB Sunday hardcore matinees were 21+ or even 18+? You forgot. Hang it up.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 12:33 AM

Yeah D, that's cool, but what about the taints?
