Christines (ex Woven Bones) ready debut 7" (stream it), open for Crystal Stilts this week; Fresh & Onlys, Crocodiles in July

by Bill Pearis

Christines

Christines is the new band from Andrew Burr, who moved to NYC when his old band Woven Bones were sputtering out. Where that band was fuzzed-out 8mm garage, Christines are most definitely widescreen. Their new single “Almost Nil” sounds like a NASA launch, Burr and Matt Yu’s guitars burning in slo-mo to the stratosphere. Fans of early ’90s Creation Records (Swervedriver gets you in the right solar system) take note. We’ve got the premiere of “Almost Nil” in this post and you can stream or download it, and the chugging b-side “Maria Zoe Christo,” below.

Christines have a few NYC shows coming up. They play Baby’s All Right on Friday (6/27) with Honey and headliners Crystal Stilts. Tickets are still available. They also play Cake Shop on July 12 with TV Ghost and EZTV (featuring members of Widowspeak); then Glasslands on July 23 opening for The Fresh & Onlys (tickets); and Death by Audio on July 24 with Crocodiles and The New Lines.
