As mentioned, Montreal's Elephant Stone will release their new album, Three Poisons, on August 26 via Hidden Pony Records (the cassette is coming out on Burger). You may have already heard the title track and now the band have shared a second song, "Knock You From Yr Mountain." Frontman Rishi Dir has mentioned that the early '90s Manchester scene was an influence on the new album and you can really hear it on this one. Groovy stuff. Stream it and "Three Poisons" below...

Okay, you name your band after a Stone Roses single and your sound is appropriately Madchester. At least choose a different font.

I bet these guys couldn't beat the Stone Roses in a drinking contest.

How you can one band be so embarrassingly derivative?

I think any band who names themselves in reference to another group is asking to be pigeonholed. However, to their credit, this song sounds more like Silver Apples or Blonde Redhead than Madchester.

This band is actually really good - and I'm a perpetual skeptic.

A tribute band. That's ok, just don't pretend to be original.
