House of Vans during last week's Zumiez party (more by Ryan Muir)
House of Vans

The June lineups for the free Vans House Parties at NYC's House of Vans (25 Franklin St) were already announced, and now the July and August ones were too.

July's shows include wild garage rockers Black Lips (who also play NYC on their tour with King Khan this fall) with local skate/surf punks Night Birds and a special guest on 7/3; and hardcore vets Gorilla Biscuits with NJ punk heroes Bouncing Souls (who also celebrate 25 years in NJ this summer) and a special guest on 7/10.

Then in August it's the dancin' Future Islands with Syrian pop singer Omar Souleyman and Brooklyn indie pop musician Mas Ysa on 8/7; and DFA's Holy Ghost!, Hercules and Love Affair collaborator Kim Ann Foxman and FIXED's Dave P on 8/14.

All shows are free (and all ages), but RSVP is required (though it doesn't guarantee entry). RSVP for the Black Lips/Night Birds and Gorilla Biscuits/Bouncing Souls shows open today (6/10) at noon. The series kicks off this Thursday (6/12) with Charles Bradley, Mac DeMarco (who also plays 4Knots) and Benjamin Booker. RSVP for that one is closed.

finally some music that makes sense

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:19 AM

Gorilla Biscuits in the summer always makes sense.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:25 AM

At CityFest 2014 I wasn't able to get Jack White, Nicholson, Nicklaus, or Black. So to crown the CUTEST CITY KID NAMED JACK we'll be using a hologram of Jack Klugman.

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 10, 2014 11:30 AM

OMG have Gorilla Biscuits and New York City finally ended their legendary beef?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:35 AM

I bet bold will be the special guest!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:37 AM

This line up is terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:49 AM

I wish the article or posters would say what time these shows start. Some of us have a curfew.

Posted by OldAgeHome | June 10, 2014 11:56 AM

"This line up is terrible" -- Gorilla Biscuits/Bouncing Souls are playing a FREE show with FREE beer. You really should try to get more enjoyment out of life!

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:57 AM

11:49 probably lives in Portland and wishes he could see that GB/BS show.

Gonna be a fun time.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:58 AM

Was expectingn something more metal leaning, but Gorilla Biscuits is cool

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:05 PM

What is the point of RSVP'ing if that doesn't guarantee you entry? Why not just have first come, first serve then?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:08 PM

They use your email addresses for mailing lists. Marketing 101, yo.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:09 PM

Fake D flapping those yams, whomp whomp whomp like Charlie Brown's teacher LOL

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:10 PM

So excited for this one :)

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:11 PM

What time do people usually get there for a 7pm show?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:11 PM

Black Lips playing House of Vans. That's some ground breaking booking there.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:20 PM

The line for Future Islands will be ridiculous, considering how quickly Webster Hall tickets went. I'd rather a paid show where I can take my chances at actually nabbing a ticket during the onsale than this free shit. Always a mess.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:33 PM

So old straight edge dudes are playing a free show with free beer? ironic.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:34 PM

12:09 is excited he used his community college math 101 skills, yo.

What a dummy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 12:41 PM

12:41 thinks that analysis had something to do with math, um... yo. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Smart guy, right?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 1:12 PM

so I finally figured out that BV commenters are mostly punk fans. Ha, now I know what to shit on.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 1:22 PM

Damn that Gorilla Biscuits/Bouncing Souls show. Going to miss it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 1:23 PM

when the hell do the other RSVPs open? Last time it said Coming Soon on the STRFKR show and then it opened later that day with no warning.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 1:25 PM

My son wants to go to this Black Lips/Birdnight show for his 15th birthday and I told him I'd drive him and a group of his friends in. Reading from the comments, it sounds like RSVP doesn't guarantee tickets so I guess we'll have make a day trip out of to make sure they all get in! I went to quite a few concerts back in my day so I know the drill, but if by chance it's sold out beforehand, I'd be willing to show my tits to the bouncer and maybe lend a hand after driving all the way there lol

Posted by Denise | June 10, 2014 1:44 PM

You people need to RSVP for your lives. Stop being such post city spectators.

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 10, 2014 1:47 PM

1:44 it's 21+ anyway, so keep your saggy ass tits to yourself lol.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 4:46 PM

D, I'm pretty sure we're Facebook friends. Did you post about the anniversary of ST's join the army? Have you ever eaten lobster in a Candlemass shirt? If I'm right, I won't post your real name or link to your FB, but I'm convinced it's you! Please confirm. Again, I won't share your info.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 4:53 PM

Who are you?

Posted by D | June 10, 2014 5:29 PM

Enjoy the grim reaper show, D.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 6:32 PM

4:46 all ages dumbass

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 6:50 PM

D,
As a long time BV reader, I found it interesting that you're actually planning on attending a Madball show. Cool. Hope the Gorilla Biscuits/Bouncing souls show is tolerable for you too. Your taste in music is very diverse. I can see that you're TRULY a fan of music, not a scene.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 6:57 PM

4:53 is going to get D killed by Lord Ezec and DMS.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 7:54 PM

7:54 I don't wish any ill will upon D. I would never want him to get hurt. I don't troll him here either, but over the past few months, I've noticed a guy on my news feed and I'm pretty sure it's him.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 8:06 PM

Oh here we are

Posted by addicting | June 10, 2014 8:09 PM

Ugh oh, possible exposure. D has a long list of enemies. If it gets out who he really is he is in trouble. Chris Gethard might roll up on him.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 9:50 PM

Hahaha so someone is posing as me where? Where did I say I would attend a Madball show? I would never attend a Madball show. Fuck Lord Ezec and DMS.

Fuck Gorilla Biscuits 2014 and Bouncing Souls, too.

I don't need to see GB cuz I saw them back in the day. 'Love the 7" ep, 'like the lp, the debut demo was ok, and that's it. I could never figure out what the big deal with them was.

Posted by D | June 10, 2014 9:55 PM

D, how does your storage shed do in the rain?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 10:19 PM

Ahhh we got an oldschool D-Rider here, haha.

How does it feel to be on my nuts for three years now?

Posted by D | June 10, 2014 11:02 PM

D you too old for this

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2014 11:29 PM

Fake D flapping those yams, whomp whomp whomp like Charlie Brown's teacher LOL

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 12:16 AM

11:37pm is sore I'm not gay like he is.

Posted by D | June 11, 2014 1:27 AM

I'd love to see an article here where the entire comment section is a conversation between only "Mr. Foot Fetish" and "D". That would be pretty entertaining.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 10:47 AM

No, no it wouldn't.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 10:59 AM

It sort of is already

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 11:06 AM

I'm in desperate need of a gorilla biscuits/bouncing souls RSVP ticket.
If anyone has an extra one they would be willing to part with I would be very appreciative. Please and thank you.

D, you are beautiful and a great mother for willing to do this for your son, his friends and the doorman.
I love you

Posted by Unanymous | June 12, 2014 10:31 AM

Post city boyz should scoff at the post city scene of high rent, gourmet pizza, desserts, and adult themed tees 4 toddlers.

Instead they go to showz looking to forget their city woes. The Home of Vans isn't your friend.

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 12, 2014 11:26 AM

That gb show is the first good vans show in 2 years
