LAMC

The annual Latin Alternative Music Conference is returning to various NYC venues from July 8-12. Many shows are free but registration is open that gets you into the non-free shows. The full schedule is below.

Performances of note over the course of the conference include a couple of free shows that coincide with the Central Park Summerstage series. On July 9, Beatnuts, Ana Tijoux, Bodega Bamz and DJ Tony Touch will take the stage, followed by Babasonicos, Juana Molina and La Santa Cecilia on July 12 in the same place. Juana Molina will also be performing and speaking at The Greene Space on July 11 (not part of LAMC). Tickets for that show are on sale now and include one beer.

Also on the 11th, AJ Davila will play a LAMC show at Gramercy Theater with Los MacUanos, Diana Fuentes, Esteman and The Wookies (tickets). This will follow an acoustic showcase earlier in the day at SOB's which will feature many of the above acts like Davila, Ana Tijoux, Esteman and more (tickets).

Check out the full schedule below for lots more shows and events.

Cool. One of the best things about being stuck in NYC for the summer is going to see great Latin music at the LAMC. Most is much better and more interesting than the stale US indie scene.

248 Are you like most Americans who only listen to music in English? If so you are really missing out.

As much as all the free shows are great, the LAMC is really a networking event for musicians, filmmakers, designers, thinkers etc. This is what happens - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW5azdqj8WQ

Most of the music is in Spanish but there is also music in English and a also a bit of both. Many of the artists playing you have heard in Target ads, your favorite TV shows and indie films etc etc.

Whether its at the conference itself or enjoying the free shows at Summerstage or Celebrate Brooklyn, just enjoy …
