Madball
Madball

NYHC heavies Madball are shooting a video for their next song "Born Strong" and they're on the lookout for extras. Per the band's Facebook:

MADBALL video shoot this THURSDAY, June 12th @ NOON sharp. All you LADIES, All you FELLAS.....come out and represent for the BORN STRONG shoot!!!!
327 Bowery, New York, NY 10003 (212) 228-0228.
"Born Strong" features Walls of Jericho's Candice Puopolo and is off of Madball's next album, Hardcore Lives, which will be released June 27 via the band's own Black N Blue label (preorder). We recently premiered the summery "Doc Marten Stomp" from the record, saying it was ". . .set to score many future drives from now until September."

The video shoot for "Born Strong" occurs the same day as the Body Count record release show at the Gramercy Theatre, which features Madball and Wisdom in Chains opening. Body Count's somewhat improbable Manslaughter saw its nationwide release this week (6/10) through Sumerian Records. The long-player includes a 2014 update of Suicidal Tendencies "Institutionalized" (DAMN COCO, can't the man play X-box?), a song titled "I Will Always Love You" (which isn't a Whitney/Dolly cover, shockingly), and the regrettably named, not-really-empowering anthem, "Bitch in the Pit." All in all, it's Planters nutty and that's it's greatest virtue and vice. Par for the course for Ice T.

Madball's "Born Strong" video shoot flyer along with the full stream of Body Count's Manslaughter appears below.

Fat boy from Madball should start a band with fat boy from PS I Love You and call themselves the Natural Disasters.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 9:20 AM

All you warriors should come down and call me fat to my face.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 9:48 AM

so many complex layers and new directions on the new album.

sounds like they were listening to lots of brian eno.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 9:52 AM

Another bunch of anonymous losers who think they're funny. I'll bet Conor Oberst could kick your asses... in fact you probably fantasize about that.

Posted by Stephen | June 11, 2014 10:18 AM

lol at the fat guy's hairline.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 10:20 AM

9:52 interesting. I was sensing a strong Terry Riley influence.

"Waiting to exhale"

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 10:26 AM

Very good points. The new album really hits you, style wise, from a lot of different places. I definitely see the Brian Eno and Terry Riley influences although I was thinking more Del Taco and KFC.

Are skinny people allowed in your video?

Thanks,

10:27 is spot on. There is a definite Doublicious® influence on this album.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2014 4:36 PM

How is it that he can be so delusional? Has anyone ever said anything positive about his posts?

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2014 12:44 AM

Yo Ice T did you know that you're playing a venue owned by a promotion company who booked Die Antwoord a "band" from South Africa who put out a video titled "Fatty Boom Boom" which features them wearing blackface? Hypocrite.

Posted by D | June 12, 2014 4:35 PM

In the post city, knowledge is annoying.

D, how do you do with the ladiez? Post and pre?

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 12, 2014 4:55 PM

"NYHC heavies"

you said it not me!

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2014 5:01 PM

4:5pm I do just fine with MY LADY :)

A real man stays with one woman until it's over between them beyond the physical.

BTW how come Ic e T and his pal Snoop Dogg are all quiet about Justin Bieber's racism?

Ic e was all "I don't pay attention to the lil' dude" on his Twitter and Snoop hasn't made his fuc k you video to "The Bieb" yet like he made one for the other racist POS Donald Sterling.

Scared the music and pop world industry will come down on you two?

Posted by D | June 12, 2014 5:08 PM

Ice and Snoop can eat a motherfuc king d ick for being double-standards playing hypocrites. BC after the first record was wack. BC used to be about the message now they're (Ice is) about how many people they can piss off/shock/annoy and get to click their videos.

Oh yeah, you're not a pimp either, Tracey Morrow. You never were and you never will be and if you were where are the women coming forth to say you got them Johns huh? Pimps get Johns for their prostitutes.

Posted by D | June 12, 2014 5:10 PM

lol at the fat fuck`s haircut

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2014 5:18 PM

Guess Madball's combined weight.

My guesses:

Freddy - 220 lbs.
Hoya - 350 (more than 300 but not quite 400)
Mitts - 250
The drummer whoever the fuck his name is (cuz they change drummers as often as most people trade in leased cars) - 180

1000 lbs. or half a ton total

Posted by D | June 12, 2014 5:23 PM

You're OK with me D. You have passion. Something lacking in that post city world. Have a good weekend (I'm calling out "sick" tomorrow, wink, wink.)

BV!

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 12, 2014 5:25 PM

*whatever the fuck his name is

Posted by D | June 12, 2014 5:25 PM

lol@ "I'm calling out "sick" tomorrow, wink, wink."

Yeah, try more along the lines of "Friday is a heavy pizza delivery day and I'll be all tied up tomorrow."

Amirite?

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2014 10:57 PM

^so rite

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2014 11:24 PM

You too 5:25pm.

'Say Post City Dude is a pizza delivery worker. At least he has a fuckin' job unlike you you jobless bum posting at 10:57pm on a Thursday night cuz misery loves company.

Here are some of what I call The Laws Of Brooklyn Vegan Commenters

1. I, D, am king, and don't even try to dispute it.

2. Whoever gets on someone for not getting pussy isn't getting pussy.

3. Whoever gets on someone for not having a job is jobless (see 10:57pm.)

4. Whoever goes on about people not acting their age is even more pathetic cuz why worry about how old/young one is?

5. Whoever gets on someone for having a menial job either works in one or has never had one thus has never truly lived in reality.

...and that's just a few laws.

Posted by D | June 12, 2014 11:38 PM

This new Madball album reminds me a lot of Mahavishnu orchestra's Birds of fire. Especially the guitar playing. This is the Love Supreme of NYHC.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2014 11:56 PM

10:27, there are no del tacos in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:05 AM

Mitts>Jon McLaughlin

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:07 AM

Madball.

If there was any band who definitively ruined a scene centered around music it's Madball.

NYHC had its problems 1989-92 to say the least but Madball made them even worse. By 1994 NYHC was mostly thug bands and the '80s NYHC bands made up of people too scared to throw them out of the scene. People like Roger Miret, Vinny Stigma, Jimmy G., and Sick Of It All.

Posted by D | June 13, 2014 12:17 AM

Hoya and whoever the fuck plays drums now are laying down some Jimmy garrison/ Elvin jones type shit

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:24 AM

hoya is obvs the second coming of ron carter.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:24 AM

god bless Madball. they've provided BV so many L U L Z

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:34 AM

These guyz deserve a MOMA showcase. How long until Rick Reubin comes calling?

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:45 AM

D, everything goes in cycles. Remember when those thugs Charlie Parker and John Coltrane would be the shit out of smaller kids with socks full of pennies? NYC in the 50's and early 60's was some ill shit

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:53 AM

^ ***beat the shit***^

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:55 AM

All those southerners that moved to NYC to play jazz totally ruined the scene, man!

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 12:58 AM

Charlie Parker founded DMS but it stood for Diatonic Minor Scales back then.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 1:02 AM

Hoya and Daniel Higg's voices where the most important to come out of the hardcore scene.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 1:04 AM

12:53/58am = Idiot.

You'll never get it.

Posted by D | June 13, 2014 1:05 AM

Keep sucking Madball's and DMS' dicks, too.

Posted by D | June 13, 2014 1:05 AM

^^^^ Freddie is the singer dude.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 1:06 AM

Oh I get it D. Don't worry, I get it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 1:10 AM

Am I the only one to make a Freddie/Scott Walker conection?

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2014 1:11 AM

D, I get it. Seriously. I'm just having some light hearted fun on a stupid message board. Of course thugs, gangs, and gang mentality ruined hardcore! Duh!
