Modest Mouse at Firefly 2012 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Modest Mouse

Modest Mouse's tour dates this year already included upstate NY festival The Hudson Project and a big Queens show with Brand New, and they've now expanded their tour to include a (relatively) smaller NJ show just before the Queens gig. The newly-added show happens on August 7 at Starland Ballroom with support from Mimicking Birds, whose new album Eons came out earlier this year. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/27) at noon.

UPDATE: They also play Port Chester's Capitol Theatre on August 5 with Mimicking Birds, and a bit further from NYC on August 6 at The Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT (no opener announced yet). Tickets for the Cap show go on sale Friday (6/27) at noon and tickets for the CT show go on sale Friday (6/27) at 10 AM.

Mimicking Birds also headline their own NYC show right beforehand on August 3 at Mercury Lounge. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/27) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (6/25) at noon.

All currently known Modest Mouse dates (more TBA?) are listed, with a recent live video, below...

Hope the Replacements add the Starland :)

Thank god they added this show so I can avoid the horrors of the tennis stadium!

Starland is its own kind of shit. I haven't been there in forever, but I remember its in the middle of nowhere, draws a dumbass Jersey crowd and makes you pay to park in a gravelly field.

Hey BV - When is the show? You have it listed as 8.7, but master list of dates has it as 8.8?

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 10:34 AM

Starland blows. Venue is in the middle of nowhere and the crowd is always awful. Not really an improvement.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 10:34 AM

^That is what makes it awesome. No Brooklyn hipsters at the show. Easy to get to via car :)

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 10:39 AM

No NYC show?

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 10:44 AM

Brooklyn hipsters > Jersey trash

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 10:51 AM

Open date on the 8th - NYC/BK to be added.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 10:53 AM

Haven't been to Starland since 2006 but yeah it was in the middle of nowhere and parking was strange.

Here's the thing: I've been a fan of MM since right before 'The Lonesome Crowded West', and I love the tone he gets out of his guitar. But that being said, I have always hated the fucking guitars that he plays!

I hope Morrissey cancels all of their shows

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 11:41 AM

10:51 ha ha..I would take the Jersey crowd over a Brooklyn Crowd anyday! jersey ain't trying to impress anyone. Ain't no one got any time for that

Guesses on where the show will be at 8.8? Waterfront?

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 1:40 PM

140pm No way....Queens show isn't sold out. I'm guessing Bowery or MHOW.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 3:05 PM

maybe they'll do a 'secret' late night show like they did a few years ago

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 3:21 PM

@ 3:05 - well said. Both venues have no shows going on that night. That would be great if they played either venue.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2014 5:05 PM

If you hate Starland so much, then go to the Cap. Far better venue, less of a hassle to get to than Starland.

Modest Mouse played Music Hall after they opened for REM. They also had a residency at the Bowery for three shows, 2006? My guess would be Music Hall for 8.8.

that was the secret show hoss!
