Sharon @ MHOW - 6/12/14
Sharon Van Etten

Sharon Van Etten released her newest album, Are We There, in May, and brought her tour in support of it to Music Hall of Williamsburg last night (6/12) for her first of three sold-out NYC shows. Sharon and her band (which includes Brad Cook of Megafaun and Darren Jessee of Ben Folds Five) mostly played stuff from the new album, and they were wonderful as usual. She did of course leave room for older favorites too, like "Give Out" which you can watch a video of below. Each of her three NYC shows has a different opener, last night's being Shilpa Ray (who also plays Knitting Factory tonight). Pictures of Sharon and Shilpa are in this post.

Last night's show was part of the Northside Festival which continues (the music portion, at least) through Sunday. Her next two shows (not part of Northside) are tonight (6/13) at Bowery Ballroom with Amen Dunes and Saturday at Bowery Ballroom with Jana Hunter.

More pictures, and that video, below...

The photos are great, dick.
This photographer is talented enough not to need a flash to get great shots. A flash that you would probably complain about.

Why are dudes sweating this Sharon Van Etten chick? I mean I understand that she's probably a Des Moines 10 or whatever, but I see better looking chicks at the bus stop.

Dick here. Why are you getting so defensive 12:19? Are you saying those aren't dark photos? Flash, or not, i think there could be a tad more detail in these. Can't we just have an honest, non-accusatory discussion about them.

The prettiest girls in the world live in Des Moines.

Ask Sharon about her stint at Astor Wines. It was a blast.

Also, shouldn't her album title end with a question mark, friends?

I'm not crazy over the new one. Some good songs, but sorta boring overall. Oh well. I still think she's great.

The new one isn't as good as the two before it.
