"Finally I can tweet freely about our LP, 'Brill Bruisers'. Let me save you some blog-reading: It's our best one yet." - @ACNewman

The New Pornographers will release their sixth album, Brill Bruisers, via Matador on August 26. It's their first album since 2010's Together and was made in Woodstock, NY (where frontman AC Newman lives these days) and Vancouver, and features contributions by Dan Bejar and Neko Case. Says Newman, "This is a celebration record. After periods of difficulty, I am at a place where nothing in my life is dragging me down and the music reflects that. We wanted Xanadu and we wanted Sigue Sigue Sputnik, which translated into sparklier and faster." The album's up for pre-order now that comes with a 3-D poster (and glasses) of the artwork. You can check out the album's title track below.

The band will be on tour this fall, inlcuding a stop at NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom on November 17. That show and others on the tour will be opened by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/13) at noon with a BrooklynVegan presale beginning on Wednesday (6/11) at 11 AM, and LiveNation presale beginning Thursday (6/12) at 10 AM.

All dates are listed, along with the new song stream, cool interactive album art and tracklist, below...

I was just wondering what going on with them when I was watching Neko at Governors Ball on Saturday... I kinda dislike Hammerstein Ballroom though.

It's a bitch, but Union Transfer is worth it. Also, I am sure they will maybe announce a local small club date at Bell House or somewhere similiar

So the poster is 3D, and you just put on the glasses whenever you want to look at it? Right.

Great news! ... As for "Hammerstein, really?", AC Newman is playing solo at Littlefield as part of Night train next Monday.

Who cares about this in 2014? Might as well release a new Spoon single and cover some Wolf Parade-related project while we're at it.

There's a Brooklyn Vegan presale listed for today at 11AM. Have they posted the password for that yet?
