After reading this news I've got a boner.

Posted by Gary | June 16, 2014 6:16 PM

Forest Hills Tennis Stadium is the former site of the open and where I saw Talking Heads burn down the house in the early 80s. Nice small venue..

This! THIS!!!

Like most rogues, The Replacementz want little to do with the post city.

My assignment is soon ending. That meanz bye-bye BV. This website is on its last legz anyway.

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 16, 2014 8:05 PM

Gary for the win.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 8:08 PM

isn't this place pretty fucking huge? i love the mats and i will be going, but i somehow doubt it'll be slightly more than half-full. wish they would have played somewhere smaller.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 8:33 PM

Does anyone really think the Replacements can sell 16,000 tickets in NYC? That's a pretty ambitious booking.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 8:56 PM

Should be cool to see Forest Hills come back to life.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 9:01 PM

I shall miss you, Mr. FF.

is it an actual stadium? because these are not stadium bands

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 10:53 PM

my dad is stoked #awkwardfittingjeans

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2014 11:52 PM

They couldn't get an indoor venue? Or is this pile of crap indoors?

Is it The Replacements with only an original member or two now?

Posted by D | June 16, 2014 11:57 PM

They say the Mumford and Sons show was a mis-managed death trap.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:39 AM

@11:57–Fuck YOU. Yeah, it's just Paul and Tommy from the original band, but that's because Bob's dead and Chris couldn't stand assholes like you and paints for a living now.

And one drop of runny shit from any of the surviving members is worth more than you will ever, EVER be.

Go back to your fucking Playstation and shut the fuck up. Maybe if everyone's lucky, you'll wake up tomorrow with an incurable disease that kills you slowly, with you crying like the trust fund baby you probably are. Mom and Dad will piss on your grave.

^ Somebody get this kid a sandwich.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:50 AM

It's already sold out. Those with tix make sure to arrive late so you'll miss the lameass openers.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:53 AM

No one talks to D like that, 1:24. Show some respect.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 2:08 AM

@2:08–Bullshit. Much as I love BV as a musicblog, 99% of the commenters are assholes of the highest order.

I used to put my name up when I made a comment (oh, and they were to the point, inoffensive, and thoughtful). But this "Anonymous" shit's kinda fun.

It's a fucked up world, and fucked up people are spewing fucked up commentary all over the nets–musicblogs, political blogs, *everywhere*. This'll be the last time I do it.

But to quote Westerberg (from "IOU"), "you're all fucked." And from the same song, "I owe you NOTHING."

BV–thanks for being here; you're one of the best. Commenters–I ain't reading your hate-filled moronic shit any more. I just thought I'd try it once myself before signing off.

Fuck all y'all.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 2:31 AM

2:31 you got it all wrong! This blog is awful, only the comments make it worth checking.

Posted by ME | June 17, 2014 3:18 AM

Bland bullshit music for a bland bullshit venue

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 6:42 AM

Awwww 1:24am is angwy I sh it all over the place he works at.

Fu ck me? Fu ck YOU. I was asking legit questions di ckhead, Forest Hills Tennis Stadium sucks a ss and is the LAST PLACE I would expect a seminal '80s indie rock band to play, and I don't own a Playstation let alone play videogames like you ya fu ckin' nerd, thanks.

Thanks for answering my question about the band and I could give a fu ck what some fu cking early 50s nerd from Minneapolis thinks of me or "people like (me)". If he has a chip on his shoulder as big as you he needs therapy - you most certainly do. I mean would you DARE say what you're typing to my face? No, you wouldn't cuz I'd smack your so hard the red on your face would remain for an hour and that's if I just slapped you. 'Didn't know one of the members is dead so don't you try to twist it like I knew, ok?

I'M a trust fund baby? Hahaha you obviously have no clue as to who I am on here which makes you even more of a clueless tu rd. Trust me I truly enjoy people like you who think I'm some random guy.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 6:55 AM

BTW what a lame-ass "flyer" or whatever the fuck it is, but not nearly as lame as the venue.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 6:57 AM

Yo eat a dick 2:31am and good riddance. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Posted by D | June 17, 2014 6:59 AM

The flyer is an updated version of the cover to 'pleased to meet me', a classic replacements album, if you don't like them you don't like them haha, I do so I'll be trying to get GA tix - I think the difficulty will be getting GA, don't wanna have to sit in the bowl to watch this show

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 8:47 AM

owen?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 9:10 AM

Wow, who is this person who thinks they can speak to D like that?

Don't f*ck with D, or you get the D in the B... Knameen?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 9:26 AM

"Hahaha you obviously have no clue as to who I am on here which makes you even more of a clueless tu rd."

Wow, a person on a anonymous website thinking he's a well-known anonymous person on a anonymous website.

Poor, sad old man.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 9:32 AM

Would love to hear the story one day on how DMS fucked D up.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 9:33 AM

I just pleasured myself in my office reading this.

Posted by Alex Chilton | June 17, 2014 9:44 AM

Yeah D. We have no clue to as who you are on here. Please inform us.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 9:55 AM

too big. enjoy the cement

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 9:56 AM

I am genuinely surprised that someone who knows as much about music as D, spanning several decades, was unaware that Bob Stinson is dead. And I don't mean that sarcastically.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 10:06 AM

D doesn't know much about music that isn't shitty hardcore.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 10:09 AM

I don't think that's the original D

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 10:09 AM

The Replacements are playing in the birthplace of The Ramones. Openers aside, this is not the kind of music that you condescend.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 10:23 AM

Tommy Stinson has been in Guns n Roses for longer than he was in the Mats. Think about that.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 10:41 AM

That Stinson fellow sure uses lots of hair products.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 11:16 AM

Based on the bullshit claptrap above, looks like I'll be able to score tix no problem.

Thanks, internet!

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 11:36 AM

oh man my dad is going to be hungover on 9/20. i hope he doesn't embarrass me with some kind of concert outfit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 11:57 AM

I really dig the fact that Husker Du will probably never reunite. Somethin to (not) du.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:09 PM

since Westerberg always complained about the terrible album art for Pleased to Meet Me, it's a little strange to see it on this flyer.

it might almost make you suspect he doesn't really care about playing NYC.

if Drake & Lil Wayne are playing Forest Hills Stadium, this must be a huge venue, right? seriously, how are the Replacements going to play a place like this?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:28 PM

17k capacity I hear!

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:35 PM

You're right guys, if a band hasn't formed in the past 8 months they are probably really uncool and not even worth acknowledging! Brilliant logic.

Also is anyone commenting on here over the age of 19? Couldn't tell based on the extreme immaturity, hostility, and complete disrespect for the 'mats.

Posted by anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:37 PM

"This website is on its last legz anyway."

Truer words were never written.

"This website is on its last legz anyway."

A hipster thinking something was better in the past for no reason at all. Shocking.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:53 PM

have the Replacements ever played a headlining gig at a stadium with 17K capacity?

they played a lot of amphitheatres in the 80s when they were opening for Tom Petty, but that didn't necessarily go so well.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 12:59 PM

12:53 It was definitely better when jagoffs like you hadn't discovered BV.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:00 PM

when did Forest Hills Stadium lose the US Open? wasn't it 30 years ago? hate to think of what's been growing in those bleachers all this time.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:06 PM

who knew the old guys were so sensitive?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:15 PM

Are these guys older than Guided by Voices?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:20 PM

I couldn't get through these idiotic comments, but did anyone point out that September 19th is a Friday and the venue has a 10pm curfew? Doesn't that mean there will be something like a 5pm showtime (not that I care about the openers), requiring anyone interested in getting a good view to leave the office at like 2?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:26 PM

lol at a bunch of guys pushing 50 leaving work at 2pm to go to a rock concert on a tennis court. Too funny.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:32 PM

Is Rockin Daddy a 'Mats fan?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 1:34 PM

Me, Grammar Guy, D, D's #1 fan, Hummus, Hummus's various aliases (possibly D's #1 fan), the guy who thinks I'm Grammar Guy, and Annie St. Vincent fan boyz does not a website make.

At CityFest 2014 I will be unveiling PostCityVegansRFruits.com.

BV commenters completely unimpressed even by a NYC Mats show?

Some of you should just spare yourselves of your jaded, joyless lives by committing suicide.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 3:06 PM

"... better when jagoffs like you hadn't discovered BV."

When did "Jagoff" replace "Jack-off"? What would "jagoff" even be? What the fuck is wrong with you?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 3:17 PM

High rentz, cool parentz, sweetcakes everywhere, restaurants ripping you off, and adult roommatez using all the TP will make anyone gloomy.

The post city is a miserable place.

SHUT THIS WEBSITE DOWN - THE BK VEGAN DREAM IS OVER!

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 17, 2014 3:23 PM

My favorite band.

Not too sure what to think about the venue because I haven't been there and i've read about the Mumfords show.

Very excited though. Dream come true.

The Hold Steady and Deer Tick opening is very cool. They are both big fans so it makes sense.

I would have liked to have Lucero instead of Deer Tick like the MN homecoming show but this is great news anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 3:44 PM

"This website is on its last legz anyway."
Clueless statement. It's more popular now than ever.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 4:02 PM

Replacements(even current incarnation)> any current idiecrap band.
Anyone taking shots over what should be one of the absolute best shows this summer is a complete fool.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 4:05 PM

TWO ABOVE ME

If you want to survive in the post city you need to get the dessert crowd. Where are the comfy momz as well? Or the marketing enthusiasts? I don't see brunching city galz anywhere on here for Panda Bear's sake!

The post city will pick it's veneered teeth with this website.

Posted by Mr. Foot Fetish | June 17, 2014 4:29 PM

Comfy momz

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 4:32 PM

First of all, they probably won't try to sell capacity for this show, or any of the shows that are playing there this year. They sold capacity for Mumford last year and had nothing but issues. My guess is that they will probably only try to sell about 14k for the shows.
For this, it probably won't fill to capacity, but it will sell respectably. 60 bucks for 3 bands is reasonable.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 4:34 PM

Comfy momz run shit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 5:41 PM

What about comfy dads and their paunch?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 6:35 PM

Replacments ain't 4 city boys.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2014 7:33 PM

DMS never fucked me up. Wishful thinking on your part dickhead.

Anonymous people calling me out I love it.

What's even funnier is I even CREATED AN EMAIL for people to write me at and only ONE person who posts on the board wrote me XTAINTX.

You're all a bunch of cowards.

Posted by D | June 18, 2014 3:02 AM

D for douchebag!

LOL @ you on my nuts at 4:14am, you no-life loser.

Posted by D | June 18, 2014 7:28 AM

3:02 Jesus, how creepy, this fucking weirdo is actually expecting/wanting people to email you!?! What do you expect people to say: "um, hi man. Do you really live in a toolshed in your Nanas backyard??!" Are you really excited that you think you've created some kind of 'persona' on a anonymous board?

What a sad, lonely sack of shit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 8:46 AM

8:46 - ouch. 3:02 will be sitting in a corner for the rest of the day.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 8:48 AM

The real D is a working man. Ain't no way the real D would be up at 3 AM on a school night writing in a fashion that he never did when he did actually post on BV.

Go the fuck away 3:02. Go find another persona to copy. Maybe go back to correcting grammar or such?

Posted by Literally everyone to ever read BV comments | June 18, 2014 9:22 AM

Well, I can confirm that I did email him. We thought the whole thing was funny... so I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

Posted by xTAINTx | June 18, 2014 10:33 AM

I can confirm how easy it is to put something in the Name space.

So, there's that.

Posted by xTAINTx | June 18, 2014 11:06 AM

4:34 - you're expecting a promoter and venue to undersell a space to make it a more comfortable experience for concert goers? good luck with that expectation.

look if you're one of those replacements people that calls them 'Mats' (ugh) and are in shock at this comment thread that makes fun of the venue and the show then yes - you'll go and no matter how shitty the experience you will declare it SHOW OF THE YEAR. so enjoy that.

but the venue sounds terrible and you'd be better served flying to minneapolis to see that show in their hometown. since you're a replacments fan i assume you're a upper middle class white male with a soul crushing corporate job so finding the money to do so shouldn't be too hard. then you can maybe more honestly type SHOW OF THE YEAR.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:23 AM

11:06 - you make a fair point.

Posted by xTAINTx | June 18, 2014 11:24 AM

11:23 is making a lot of sense

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:39 AM

11:23 has way too much time on his hands. Probably makes way less than $75k a year too!

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:41 AM

11:23, Yes, that is my expectation. They got so much flack for their mishandling of the Mumford event last year, that they offered refunds to anyone who wanted them. It's beyond the point of making "a comfortable experience for concert goers"; its more about damage control.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:42 AM

They're shaking hands over a tennis net! I just got that!

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:46 AM

the 10 pm curfew is indeed an issue

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:48 AM

SHOW OF THE YEAR is going to be a bunch of 50 years old playing a tennis court in the twilight of a September evening in Queens.

Makes perfect sense.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 11:53 AM

^ Tommy Stinson is 47 dufus. If yer gonna troll, at least do it right

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:09 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:10 PM

No Dave McCollumbine No Replacements

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:18 PM

showtime is 6:30. if Drake is playing the same venue with Lil Wayne, I don't think anybody has any qualms about filling the venue to capacity.

have the Replacements ever headlined a show in a stadium this size?

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:20 PM

That T Heads show was awesome, but that was more about shaking yer thang and such. The Mats are more head bop, hang on the lyrics kind of thing, which will not jibe well with the venue. Just the same, it'll be good to see them, er, Westerberg and T Stinson again this one last time.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:20 PM

Nothing says rock & roll like old men playing tennis stadiums.

smh

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:21 PM

the Mumford disaster had no casualties because it was a tame yuppie crowd. I hate to think what a madhouse this place will be when Drake & Lil Wayne play.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:28 PM

This will absolutely be the show of the summer! Old men playing a tennis stadium beats anything else going on except for maybe old man Nick Cave at Prospect Park. Long live The Mats!

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:30 PM

The 'mats show is going to smell like a mixture of Bud Light & Bengay.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2014 12:31 PM

I can't believe there's anyone who admits to having knowledge about a Mumford & Sons concert. Don't you have any shame?

Posted by xTAINTx | June 18, 2014 12:35 PM

it looks like Mumford was a real mess last year in terms of what the building could hold:

http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2013/08/forest_hills_re.html

imagine the Drake/Lil Wayne audience in this scenario.
