Philadelphia trio Amanda X will release their debut album, Amnesia, via Siltbreeze on August 5. Those who dig '90s style indie rock -- Tuscadero or Blake Babies for example -- will definitely want to check out. Album opener "Guatemala" is a good example of the scruffy pop Amanda X excel at and you can stream it below.

The band will celebrate Amnesia's release with an NYC record release show at Death by Audio on August 8 with Wing Dam, Two Inch Astronaut, and Cousin Brian on the bill as well. All upcoming tour dates are listed, along with the track stream, album art / tracklist and DbA flyer, below...

---

Amanda X - Amnesia tracklist:
01. Guatemala
02. Dream House
03. Things Fall Apart
04. Tunnels
05. Nothing Wild
06. Parsnip
07. Low And Mean
08. Paranoia
09. Trouble
10. Woke Up

I would normally say that this is why chicks shouldn't play music, but they're at least 2/3 cute, so I'll let it slide. Yes, that is equality in music.

11:01 - thanks, I needed that.

I was thinking "I'd like the blonde one to see my Two Inch Astronaut" but it kinda doesn't flatter me.

He teaches us that music is most definitely not the message.

Have a feeling we are going to see Speedy Ortiz level of coverage on this awful band.

Brace yourselves everyone.

1:42 you should take it to Gawker or Jezebel. You could have a super intellectual discussion about slut shaming or what not.

Why is every all-girl band a 90's revival act?

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2014 2:38 PM

Is there ANY WAY that I can read a comment section of a music related article reviewing a band with a grrl in it and NOT read sexualized comments?? WHO CARES if they are pretty or not pretty or have tits or don't have enough or that you have a penis or that you don't have one - HOLY CRAP, I thought it was 2014.

HERE'S MY OPINION ON THE MUSIC: I found it repetitive, musically and lyrically, but still interesting. I like the balance of tenor and soprano in the vocals. I think it's biggest downfall is the bridge, in that it's not different enough from the rest of the song to really be distinctive, and the song generally lacks dynamic.

28 comments and noone has comment on that one chick's horrible artwork? Gonna regret that when you are forty and no longer a rock n roller sista.

7:56 You don't understand how internet message boards work, do you?

Also, the only reason this band, THE ONLY REASON, are getting any attention at all is because they're cute girls. That's it. If they were dudes no one would give a fuck. And sadly, that happens a lot.

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2014 10:17 AM

Please 10:17, tell us all about how the internet works! Tell us about the old days, how you had to write letters by candle light and plow the fields on Sundays. We are so lucky to have you!

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2014 10:40 AM

7:56 likes the 'balance of tenor and soprano'?? - BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Someone call Rolling Stone quick. We've got a new Christgau here.
