MusicSnobbery

NJ/NYC music blog MusicSnobbery has officially closed shop after nine years. It was a great run -- Moby, Damon Albarn, cookies, and everything in between! We'll miss you Chris!

Is he retiring that stupid hat, too?

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2014 12:39 PM

This is the first I've heard about his blog. I just read his goodbye posting now. I agree with him. Music is awful now. I'd stop writing about it too, if I were him.

i agree that he should have stopped writing about music a long time ago.

Trading music for beer - I can't hate that...

Though the late start to the Damon Albarn show that he complains about was a special case, because it was a Governors Ball 'official after party', so had to start late so as not to conflict with the festival.

(and Governors Ball this year wasn't the weather-induced "shit show" it was last year)

I admire the honesty of this:

"Nobody is reading this. At my most popular timespan, around 2008-2010, I was getting around a 1,000 clicks a day. This time last year, it was down to 200-300 and it was mostly google search results to past posts. Blogs aren't much of a thing now these days. It's all Twitter and Instagram with people's short attention spans."

One paragraph: today's music sucks.

Another paragraph: I was an influential blogger that helped launch careers of today's music.

Conclusion: I suck at reviewing music.

"Funny enough, my passion for beer is replacing my passion for indie rock."

Never heard of it.

Hmmm wha?

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2014 6:09 PM

the numbers of all these sites must be shit now....thus the miley, beyonce, etc posts. That shit 6 years ago would have been unthinkable. Hipster Runoff is not really a thing anymore either. I wonder what p4ks decline looks like especially when this year has been the WORST year since indie became a thing.
